War Zone Channel 5

Well I think I've just discovered why my Sqns ISAF Medals have still not arrived despite submitting the nominal roll to that annoying welsh bird at the back end of July. It appears she has been too busy:

1. Topping up her tan.
2. Jogging.
3. Having a detachment boyfriend.
4. Splitting up with (3).
5. Fetching the post. It only takes hours if you do it via the BX & Timmy Hortons (Fact, because I have timed it!!). But in my defence, I did not have paras 1-4, 6 and 8-10 to fit into my day.
6. Trying to find Sgt/Cpl Walls (FFS!!!).
7. Booking one person on a flt home. Well, filling in a form as its actually the movers who book the flight.
8. Going to discos.
9. Playing pool.
10. Getting chucked in a pool by some firemen.

She is getting a right slating on facebook at the moment by one of my FB Friends! And some people wonder why SAC Adminers didnt move onto the higher pay band - There's your answer!

"Documentary series following the lives of British servicemen and women at Kandahar Airbase in Afghanistan. In this instalment, a Harrier jump jet is scrambled to fight the Taliban; a new squadron of recruits arrives from the UK; and one young female officer finds ways to make the most of life in a war zone."

??????????

I was out there when all this was being done.

Kate Aziz is a girl we all know from Lyneham and was very helpful to our lads out there. However, I got a bit sick to the back teeth of Kate this and Kate that that I was on the verge of vomming. Focusing on one person to make up the majority of the program was, well to be honest BORING!! There are far many more people who work their arses off outside in the heat rather than an admin clerk working in a nice air conditioned office for 4 months. (That isn't a dig at the admin gang before you lot kick off, just an observation that the program was structured around one person)

What got me was the RAF Harrier Zob that asked the Navy WAFU "Is there anything I can do to help".....yer, **** off and get the brews in, as if your going to pick up a spanner :)

Also, when he introduced the trade desks he said "Theres the Avionics trade desk, they are the electricians"......you'll go to hell for that one chap!

Give Bolly his due - he's about the only one of their pilots who appears to give a toss about their groundcrew - but then again he's the only RAF Pilot on a Naval Sqn. Having chatted to him a few times, he is a pretty pleasant bloke.

He reminds me of Tim "Nice But Dim" from the Fast Show.

Fair one :)

Funny thing was that my Mrs said the same about Tim nice but dim :)

She doesn't even have to do that, you fill it out yourself she just has to get it to them!! I cant believe this girl and the one who said 'we're just a bunch of tarts!!' FFS girls grow up and show a bit of professionalism.. it isn't hard. She is the type of WRAF that backs up what all you lads say about WRAFs. Made us all look like a bunch of dozy, useless bints who rely on being girly to get by!! Don't even get me started on the stupid squippers who thought it would be funny to ring her while being filmed and show how stupid she was....... shouldn't they be doing something useful like embroidering names into floppy hats!!!

And if anyone reading this missed it or didn't believe what they were seeing it is repeated on thursday on 5 at 2320hrs!

:PDT_Xtremez_42:

Not the best start for the RAF so far, perhaps Kandahar Uncovered a better title.

Base looks no different to Incirlik or Bondsteal so far, might be a bit bigger, but it is a base of REMFs, I like being a REMF, it's not Bastion and it certainly aint a FOB.

Lets hope they get stuck in with the Regt/harriers and leave the Pers Support alone, my job just aint that interesting.

Ahem, and the fooking hardest working det there, the Herc Det thank you.

I was very unimpressed with this big time, it showed the same bloke eating ice-cream 3 times and was centred around one person.

I do remember bolly from 20sqn and he seemed ok, but I would have had to say something when he said I dont know everything about how the aircraft works......

something along the lines of...

If flying was hard Techies would do it.

Totally agree with you RAF Bird. I saw you tanning yourself once or twice but I saw you in a fork lift every flaming day out in KAF dropping off our aircraft spares.

Lets hope the next few episodes show the world that the RAF is actually working bloody hard out in theatre instead of ****ing around at DISCO's!!!!. I for one didn't have a bloody clue that there was some sort of bop out in KAF as I was too bloody busy working, sleeping and getting some gym time in. Mind you a pair of tits can do wonders to your social life ;)

Really? As the det admin for the Harrier Sqn before the Navy bods, I filled the forms in for the guys and physically made sure they got into the movers' hand, occasionally accompanied by a box of Timmy's finest 12 pack!

Obviously she and the DAG/EAW/Whatever they are called have taken self-admin to another level!

How much extra baggage allowance do WAF's get to take all that unnecessary cam cream and CIVVIES with them ? When I was there 06 it was either uniform or gym kit and that's all you could wear, how things have changed.

As per usual the PR people have looked at the pretty DVD cover and sanctioned it, what a shower of ****! I await the next episode to see that they show before I fully rip in to it.....

As for Bolly, at least he has the balls to see what the lads are doing on the Jets, and no, pilots don't have a clue about all the systems, or how every component works like we have to. But at least he shows an interest in how it works and shows willing to learn. most of them have their head up their own arse. Not many of them venture out to the pan even back home it's hard to get a sorry for blowing 2 main wheels these days yet alone a crate of wobbly.

It was embarrassing unfortunately but its not panorama and what they showed was true! Even the army not bothering with helmets during a rocket attack was poor. Kate is a nice girl and was very helpful with the admin, channel 5 want to turn it into a mini soap opera though and this is what we end up with.

Bolly was a genuinely nice fella too.

Hated it.

I feel sorry for married blokes deployed / deploying shortly who's Mrs watched this programme.

It looks like there's a Disco every night and available slappers everywhere.
They didn't show 99 percent of the people working 20 hours a day, every day.

BOLLOX

Adding to this I don't think you can blame the young SAC Adminer. She was deliberatly portrayed badly by Channel 5.

The thing is she didnt help herself by exclaiming 'there will be fresh meat at the disco' (or something like that) shortly after breaking up with her boyfriend ! But I agree it was 'sexed' up, pity they didnt show more of the day to day real work that goes on!

I wonder how'll she'll feel if she dares to log onto most any mil website? Here, arrse and prune are all running un-complimentary threads...

She didnt help herself but surely someone at MOD should be looking at this and ensure its edited. I didnt see a disco in four months but then i did long hours and i've got a cock! Not sure the Dutch or US Marines wanted British lads there.

I think she's going to be in for some stick for some time (no pun).

You're right, somebody should have been looking out for her interests.

This does wonders for recruitment. I did the exact same job she did OOA and if it's now that easy I might rejoin myself. also, if all WAF's are now that good looking then I'll definitely sign! Did you see her mates?
