Welcome To Swinderby

hehehe Racing floor polishers up the corridors in 91

Actually burnt one of the things out.

Pretending to ice scate with yellow dusters on your feet, stacking beds on top of wardrobes, Making bed packs (does anyone at Halton know what a bed pack is nowadays),

MFT at NAM, luffeNAM. Mile and a half in boots with the old SLR (now thats what i call a rifle) 5 blanks and having to crawl forward a few yards to retrieve the BFA.

Memories best time of my life honest.

Of course they do! Unlike the Army who now have duvets in Phase 1.

Had my pack launched out of the window a few times, probably not a good idea to sugest to the Cpl that my boots were better than his!:PDT_Xtremez_30:

Can you remember BOB, the big barrel chested blurk who marched his troops along while himself wearing studded boots?

Will never forget Sgt Green and Cpl Walton.

If you two read this, Greenie, I remember you crying at the demise of 3TS.

Jock Meston was the Cpl and Sgt Boyden was the scouser, they were my DI's on my intake.

We had them as well but we had 2 Floor polishers per block too, one person using it the other standing on it to give better down pressure, Unless we were trying to ride the things that is.:PDT_Xtremez_14:

The floor bumper I recall was the smallest bloke in the room inside a grey blanket being dragged at a run up and down the centre of the room:PDT_Xtremez_30:

LUXURY You only had to do the centre of the room, We had to stack our beds on the wardrobes and do under them.

Pre Health and safety when peeps upstairs were hanging out of windows to clean the outside even though they were "advised" that they didnt have to.

We had a Sgt Taff Jones on our intake (10Flt Dec 90-Jan91)no Cpl for some reason. He was a brilliant bloke we were his last ever intake before his de-mob. Laid back most of the time but as most DI's a right b*stard when he needed to be.

Swinderby

Swinderby

Got there Dec 90 for 1 week then given some pocket money and sent home for 3 weeks xmas grant. Got back to swinderby to watch the gulf war from the Newcomers Club in between the constant drones of "She's My Cherry Pie" by Warrant.

I think i was 9 Flt (mixed). I also vaguely remember the Farm "Altogether Now" as our anthem. Passed out on Valentines day with parade in the hangar as it was foooooking freezing out side.

Remember spraying furniture polish by the doors and watching one of our DIs nearly go A o T. He had a sense of humour failure that morning.

That's the same dates as me, The bloke who won most improved for PT was an ex Wales 10,000 Mtr champion and the lad who won most improved for GDT an ex pongo. Never could work out how they'd improved though !
