All the news that is news about RAF 100 celebrations in it's own special web site. It asks for your ideas and suggestions for events http://www.raf.mod.uk/raf100/ So are you interested or NFI and is that smiling WRAF Doris in the photo just about to cop a decent straight arm left jab? The website also includes a handy event countdown clock.
So the defence secretary is considering whether medals could be awarded to drone pilots. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-41329782 I can't see what he needs to consider hasn't the precedent already been set for service personnel? In the downfall of Gadhafi's Libya some recipients never went further South than Italy, during the Gulf war some never went further East than Cyprus so not actually being in the country of conflict is nothing new for handing out gongs. Those whose knowledge of military history exceeds mine may well be aware of other examples.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4744268/Female-soldiers-victim-sex-attacks-twice-WEEK.html Alleged events happened at Mt Alice 2001 with the usual Journo errors soldiers not airmen or women, "trainees" and "recruits" serving in the Falklands etc. but still not a good thing. if you scroll all the way down and read some of the comments made by readers this one stands out as being particularly unhelpful "Anyone that's been to boarding school has seen this kind of behaviour"
Now the Cape Verdes will have a cloud of fag smoke over them as people get their fix before continuing doon South. Bit of a blow for Ascention though... How many cans did you managed to quaff in the hour or so you were there for? I once bought a house on that dispersal back in Scotland using a phone patch! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-40442318
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/resources/idt-sh/is_fighters Quite a long read but worth 10 minutes of your time. The sheer amount of intel collected, by just a journo, from 3 dead bodies, a sim card, a few photos and some hand written notes makes you stop and think how much the pros could garner.
I don't know how this sits with me really...Not regulars, not reservists but a new class of 'Service Person' who doesn't do the fitness test, doesn't do GDT, can do up to 180 days a year but is on a zero hour contract and I believe when they do turn in they get paid more than a real reserve? So they could work half a year without any of the high bars passed that others working shoulder to shoulder to them have to go through? If so why bother for the rest of you? If this expands would anyone else go for this at the Southern bases? http://www.insidemoray.com/moray-air-base-takes-on-first-tranche-of-ex-regular-volunteers/
