Interesting letter from DACOS Com Spt has just been released explaining how surplus/empty qtrs will now be sublet to private tenants to generate income. Whilst I understand the logic behind it I'm not sure how I feel about this as I like the fact that on a patch you are surrounded by military families. Disputes and issues can be dealt with through the CoC and can usually be nipped in the bud quite quickly. I'd like to think if this is the route they plan on going down then the offer should be put to Service personnel first. IE: Those individuals who dont meet the Marital Status requirement for SFA entitlement. Im sure there are many singlies and unmarried families that would jump at the chance. It also opens a whole can of worms...
What are Goaters' views on this campaign https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/2528470/back-the-suns-campaign-to-honour-the-last-british-dambuster-hero-george-johnny-johnson-who-risked-his-life-in-the-1943-bouncing-bomb-raid-aged-just-22/ FWIW, whilst I have the utmost respect for what 617 did that night, I am not sure a knighthood now would really mean anything. A raft of gongs were handed out for that night iaw the criteria and standards that applied for such awards at that time. That those awards are now seen as insufficient is, in my view, an indication that the honours and awards system has become 'cheapened' and degraded in recent years through giving what should be considered great honours and awards out for relatively trivial feats...
RAF women face being BANNED from wearing skirts on parade thanks to PC ‘madness’ of push to be more ‘inclusive’ https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/2969855/raf-women-face-being-banned-from-wearing-skirts-on-parade-thanks-to-pc-madness-of-push-to-be-more-inclusive/ Mentioned on Sky News this morning. First I've heard of it.
Navy chiefs ban X-rated films and magazines from nation’s fleet in bid to clean up its image Can't stop chuckling at this. The poor guys (and girls) in the Senior Service. I don't think I could have got through any of my dets without a cheeky bit of Franky Vaughan. I understand that if you've got some snaggy stuff downloaded, you should be off to jail, but I can't see any harm in some John Pontefract classics. No more passing around the Pusser's porn HDD.
Not a surprise as such but its getting real now. First time we will own a variant of the 737...How many techies and pilots will see the opportunities here to get qualified on a type that pretty much every airline in the world has one of? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2016/05/09/britain-to-begin-orders-of-nimrod-replacement-spyplanes/
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016...-cash-squeeze/ A few weeks back I was told of a team working at Air, feverishly trying to screw each and everyone of us financially. It was more than just a hint that LSA was looking at being chopped, by perhaps as much as 50%, though I find it a bit too far fetched. It is rumoured that the army have kicked back on that one, as has the navy, which is really struggling to crew ships and boats. It is coming folks, apparently it's eye watering stuff......but the only snippet I got was the LSA; what else is fair game before we hit terminal velocity in what seems a favourable jobs market? Qtrs going up another £100 a month?
