Not just one or two but 17 former Army recruit instructors. "The group from the Army Foundation College in Harrogate are facing 40 charges, including actual bodily harm and battery. They are due to appear at Bulford Court Martial Centre on September 21 and 22. The Ministry of Defence confirmed 17 former recruit instructors will face trial". http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-york-north-yorkshire-40916510
Sorry, this is probably going to be more of a rant than a thread, and might possibly be better suited to the Pigs Bar... So, they've replaced the failing Troops to Teachers program, with another bursary-type program - this time, they're offering £40,000 bursaries for ex-Mob types to go into teaching. Unfortunately they've caveated this scheme with the same ridiculous criteria that caused the TTT program to fail - you have to be uneducated in order to qualify. Not only that, but you don't get the money until you're 12 months into a 3 year course - so self-funded for a year?!? TTT didn't work because the kind of people who wanted to be teachers after leaving the Mob were academically minded - and, thanks to a recent push by the...
The French have been confronting Islamist opponents in Saharan Africa for some time. RAF C-17 cargo planes helped transport French armoured vehicles to Mali in 2013 when the French first began their military campaign against the Islamist rebels. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/01/16/britain-prepares-send-military-helicopters-french-campaign-against/ Now, according to the telegraph, we are helping to move their troops around with Chinnys. "Whitehall sources said Britain had offered the transport aircraft to make up for shortfalls in French helicopter numbers".
RAF Typhoons will fly over Qatar during the 2022 football world cup. "The RAF will patrol the skies above Qatar during the World Cup to protect tourists from terrorists, the country's deputy prime minister announced ......... Dr Khalid bin Mohammad Al Attiyah, who is also defence minister." http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5281463/RAF-jets-guard-Qatar-World-Cup.html Being in the host country during the world cup, chance to maybe watch England lift the trophy or more likely go home at the group stage. Anyone fancy the det??
The Staffordshire regiment have promoted their dog "Watchman" to Colour Sgt. WTF is going on? We have defence budgets under pressure, we are told to modernise, slim down, work smarter do more with less and in the La La land of our brown cousins they are having a promotion ceremony for a fecking dog. https://lichfieldlive.co.uk/2017/12/15/lichfield-pub-to-host-official-promotion-ceremony-for-staffordshire-regiments-mascot/
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lincolnshire-42358391 Chief exec putting a brave face on what appears to be a total cluster. Having looked at their admission prices when they were released, I decided not to take them up on their generous offer. Apparently lots of other folk were of the same mind. Lesson learnt?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-42336381 British armed forces veterans could have their driving licences stamped with a "V", as part of plans to improve the recognition of their service. The move, similar to a US scheme, could see 2.5 million ex-military personnel issued with the new licence to "clearly distinguish" them as veterans. The card would give holders easier access to specialist services and to offers, including retail discounts......
A Cpl used as a recruiting "poster girl" has been nicked for drink driving. Shopped to the civvy bill by RAF Coppers 4 times over the limit. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5095183/RAF-poster-girl-caught-four-times-alcohol-limit.html "Galvin admitted drink driving and was fined £1,000....was given a 29-month ban from driving which can be reduced to 29 weeks through a rehabilitation course........The court was told Galvin will face additional punishment for bringing the RAF into disrepute"
With army recruiting on the floor (In the case of the Guards regiments, 71 per cent of their recruit training places are not being taken up.) new recruits can stay even if they have found to have a wide range of drugs in their system (new recruits ...... will be allowed to stay, whatever substance has been found in their system – including heroin, cocaine, ecstasy and cannabis.). http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5004447/Army-won-t-sack-recruits-use-cocaine.html
