12th of June coming soon

So are you expectant, hopeful or worried? For perhaps differing reasons it will be a sad and unexpected day for some, yet a joyus and happy one for others, I just hope you get what you want from the process, not everyone will, I fear.

Just so nervous , i really want it - i still like my job but need to make some real money and the 75k payout will be awesome. I cant afford to PVR so really its redundancy or another 7 years to go

I've said this before I volunteered under options for change. I really wanted it. Don't know what I'd have done if I hadn't have got it. I was in the fortunate position of being at a rafg base which had closed and was given my posting to pmc holding flight 6 weeks before the redundancy announcement. Lol.

I hope you get what you wish for.

Some good posts there but think we've done SJARS to death now and with less than 48 hours to go we should get back on track!

Anyone else nervous?

For me it kind of feels like being a kid at christmas time again. I'm excited but i don't know whats coming and if i'll either be jumping for joy or disappointed! :PDT_Xtremez_16:

a bit nervous but mainly concerned about the way the management handle it. He may prove me wrong, but I just can't see SEngO making having a chat with people top of his priorities and fully expect to be waiting around wondering whats going on if I am not on the list.

Should the deadwood go and the good guys retained? Of course they should.

Will the deadwood go and the good guys be retained? Probably not.

If the last time is anything to go by, one way or the other the Royal Air Force is set to lose a fair few good guys, some because they wanted it and others because they happened to be sat in the wrong seat without enough points when the music stopped.
To all those in the frame I hope Tuesday brings you what you want either way.

didnt apply for it and dont want it however the way the airforce has been fcuking with my life both at work and at home recently to say im not looking forward to the 12th is an understatement.

I think you'll find it'll be his highest priority. I know it will for my S/L as he's volunteered himself.

Not nervous just want to know now, I will pass 18 years so not all bad for me, and I am on days Tuesday rather than nights or standdown so wont be sat at home unable to sleep waiting for a phone call.

Logically there're 2 others on the section who are more likely to get it but I still think all they do is put the names in a hat.

Passed 18 year point in April, wouldn't have put my name in the hat if I hadn't!
If they want to hand me 70k and an IP then great!
If not then I've lost nowt and can look forward to the next promotion board!
Win/Win situation........nothing for me to sweat over!

Good luck to all...........hoping not too many folks are disappointed come Tuesday!

What's the procedure for being informed if your away from your unit?
I told my section to just ring me but how long should I wait for the phone call?

I thought all units have allocated notification officers this time?

Well, last time in my particular building everyone worked as per normal (if you can call it work).

The first they would know anything was wrong was when one of the management would approach them, to ask them to come for a chat with the Boss (Sqn Ldr if applicant, Wing Co if not).

Problem was... that every time one of the management walked into the hangar everyone acted like meerkats trying to see if they were coming towards you or not. :PDT_Xtremez_42:

It made for a very stressful morning as the management moved about the place doing their own thing... whilst everyone else was thinking they were coming for them!

I hope they do it differently this time around... but as we've been told nothing as of yet (with only two days to go) I fear that they'll do it the same way!

As an added bonus... I'm pretty much at my five year point of instructing and therefore am expecting either Redundancy or posting... something tells me that it could be an interesting week in the life of B'Stard! :PDT_Xtremez_21::PDT_Xtremez_30:

The way I see it there is no easy way of informing people of their fate.
However it is done there will be the usual RAF moanathon about how it could've been handled differently!

I don't see any point in pussy footing around......just walk up to me and tell me!

The guy telling you didn't make the decision........and I don't envy them their work come Tuesday morning!

Must be different rules for different camps. The 3 camps I have people working at have been told who their notifying officer is.

There was a space on the form for the name of the Notifying Officer so I just filled it in. Not in work Tuesday so just sent an email with my contact details to the person I nominated.

At lossie if its compulsory you get to visit harry staish and if an applicant its your Winco. Or so the rumour goes
