Any one fancy a new no fly zone det to Aki?

BBC saying if the UN vote yes to the no fly zone over Lybia (in the next hr or so) then RAF Jets could be in action over the contry tomorrow!!!!!!

I know were good but unless theres a hidden sqn or two out there then I very much doubt it!!!!!

SDSR (didnt see this comming did yah!)

French official: Qatar planes to join international operation against Libya within hours.

Listened to radio 5live this morning and they had an interview with a pro ghaddafi supporter from tripoli. He went on about Italy and imperial powers, then started ranting about the Qatar world cup bid. Do they have a problem with Qatar?

What is the point of an "Extra Admin Wing" anyway?? Squadrons always managed to work away for years before that comedy concept brought along all the bull**it you thought you'd left in the UK..

I expect Waddington must be like a Ghost camp at the moment..

I bet the MCSU (do we still have them) are packing up their pots an' pans and cooking ranges - and are now hot-footing it to an AT airbase then onto Joy on the Hill in Puglia.....

Keep it cheap.....Just work, food and sleep.

The MCSU were always there when I went 4 times with the Jags in the 90s - the rates were only for your evening meal (or lunch if you were on nights).

On the bright side - at least they are getting LOA for Italy at a higher rate before it gets cut on 1 May!

Unless you are accommodated and fed on camp and they declare field conditions... (then it will be just like Afghanistan but without the OA).

(Though I could perhaps tolerate the Clio again, at a push...)

Good god man standards!!!

Could be worse I suppose, it could be the ambascadori in Bari or the Svevo in GDC....

I wonder if the "Sgts Mess" in the Miramonte is still there....:PDT_Xtremez_35:

Christ, the hotels above are bringing a fond tear to my eye when I served at GDC upon several occasions supporting Op Deny Flight, firstly as an LAC (and yes - before you question, 41 RIC did send me there at that rank). Loved the town of Conversano, nothing better at the time than sitting in the main square outside a bar with a 0.5 litre of Peroni people watching. Those who are heading to GDC also have a bottle of Primitivo for me cos it looks like I'm off to Akrotiri this Tuesday.

Sky (Radio) news on the ball again.

Sky (Radio) news on the ball again.

Earlier news item on local radio from the Sky News Centre:
"Tornado STEALTH Bombers involved in raids over Libya".

Now I'm sure that some electronic whizz-kiddery will certainly help the Tonka get through whatever is left of the Libyan air defence system, but describing the old girl as a stealth bomber is stretching things a bit.

On a serious note, all those green machine who advocated getting rid of us (yes you, Colonel) must be wondering how to back peddle without looking foolish. Good to see the safe returns on BBC too.

Good to see that despite certain factions of Armed Forces top brass doubting our worth, the RAF, when push comes to shove, can still provide the precision guided, long range, high explosive goods!

Good luck to all the guys and girls making the trip over to Italy, and to all the crews going up, have a safe trip

The sub off the coast of Libya can do the same though!

Nope, TLAM cannot do the same as Stormshadow. Both, are good at what they do and compliment each other. However, they are not fully interchangeable.

took the words right out of my mouth! As a sidenote though, it's good to see our Navy doing what they train for as well and fulfilling their role, someone mentioned it earlier, but I imagine they feel as if they have a point or two to prove
