my 22 is due 2 years in feb, so i could fit in that bracket.
Would they be able to pick and choose though? Surely they must work through the promotion list in number order; otherwise what is the point of having a list in the first place.

On a different note, If I was made redundant, I would get 3 months pay as a redundancy package, I was just speaking today to someone who works for the post office, he has just been made redundant and walked away with 2 years pay. Room for thought.Off Topic

I was in a manning brief the other day and only B+ candidates will qualify for the new redunency package! thats if the promotion freeze comes in!

Mid 80's, until now I haven't been keeping tabs on how far down the PSL they've got - anticipating that it would be quite a wait to hear whether that number would be reached or not. By all accounts though, things have progressed perhaps better than first anticipated. Are there any updated estimates?

Do you mean PMA are processing offers for people in the mid 80's?

No, I meant to ask if anyone had heard of any estimate as to the final number that they will reach. I didn't have my hopes up, and still don't really, but things seem more positive of late.

Somehow I don't find the talk of promotion freeze being very positive at all. I think that you might get lucky if your high 50's low 60's with lots of time left to serve but other than that pretty dismal. Would love to be proved wrong though, as I am in the 90's.

past halfway

past halfway

I know they are up around 50 odd at least. So halfway to the first quota. With the next lot of boards that may provide some movement? I thought they had released up to 65?

I still say it is fairer to get longer down this list than saving some for next years list. Only because I know a few people at the lower end that are well overdue it.

any more?

any more?

Have they released any more?
What with TMG handing in his PVR and the SAC board releasing 30, has there been any more offers out there.

PM if you don't want to broadcast it

I've heard about someone in the 50's getting theirs. Also been told by my WO that PMA will be stopping promotions end of Jan rather than March. Anyone confirm or deny this???

Promotion lists don't close until the month before the next board. Anyone who has been released at that point has to be used, but everyone else goes back in the pot for the next board.

Released up to 65 or 70 and that takes them through to around Mar/Apr 11.

Could possibly dry up after that as they start relocating people following Sqn and Unit drawdowns.

That said though I hear that some FS to WO proms are going out just before Christmas, hopefully this will then promote a few Sgt's to FS and if we are really lucky some promotions to Sgt following that.

The point made earlier about promoting in order is wrong also. The position list is merely for the promotion board to 'rank' people. Manning are not mandated to promote in order and indeed, generally don't becasue where possible they will try and give areas of choice, or assign someone because of skills they have, or if all else fails then it is a case they need a bum on a seat and they grab the first available person at that time. Don't forget some people will be away on Ops or about to go away so promoting in order would be impossible because everything would be held up if someone was away or about to go away.

For all those sitting over 70 and probably wont get you r promo, you do realise about two years ago some bright spark allowed 20 to 30 Royal sigs Sgts transfer straight across. Theres those thirty places!!!!!!!!

First I've heard of this. Is it true, and if so, where did they get posted? I just can't see it working, a 25 year old Army Sgt walking into a trade that has 40 year old Cpls... mutiny springs to mind.

Can it work the other way round? An 18 year in Cpl transfer in to Sigs as a WO2 (experience and training).

From Manning News, put on the site today:

10 more to be released in the remaining 6 months.. Total Promotion Prediction 75.

what do the numbers mean

what do the numbers mean

Ok, nice for an update. but how does this relate to the PSL? I understood they are around 65 already so have there been many who didn't take it. Just wondered if the 10 more are still to come or are they the few that got released this week? I know it says first and next 6 months. I would guess they would get to about 80 on the list with current figures but we will see.
