In response to a couple of threads. The chap asking about if someone is in the 60's+ will that not hear anything until Jan - i.e. to coincide with when the current batch are expected to be taking up post. Then nothing hard and fast. It is September now so things could change, people turn it down, people don't have enough service left etc. This would inevitably see another release and it could also see in Manning asking for people to waive 90 days. The positives here are that they are at half way on the board in a short space of time. However, with a proportion of posts being handed back to the RAF over the next 18 months it could be that things slow up, it really is the waiting game I suppose at the minute.
I was at the BZN brief and no concrete figures were set, and let's be honest when have we known Manning to commit themselves to something? The anticipation is still to release between 70-80. This is being driven by the NATO review that has just finished, and I get the feeling that it is positive rather than negative and as such the 70-80 is actually better than they last thought maybe?
Chatting with someone today, I hear that another 5-6 Sgt's have been released to the FS board also. Once those offers go out then maybe we will see a few more Cpl-Sgt offers getting sent out.
Finally, how many people on this thread have had first hand experience of what the guys down there are having to run with each day? I was fortunate enough (through a contact) to sit in for a few hours with our desk. The guys there are playing a constant juggling act with people. One call came in from a guy after a move, and I could see on the screen that there were no jobs in that area. 5 mins later another call came in with someone looking for a move, guess what, he was in the area that the other chap wanted to go to! Needless to say the drafter then got back on the phone and sorted that guy out.
Top tip for everyone though, don't try and get hold of the drafter by phone if you know they have been on leave or guard- it was one guys first day back after guard (and even trying to keep on top of stuff whilst not stagging on) he came back to just shy of 200 emails from people.
Anyway, hopefully I have given you all a bit of gen that will help out a bit. I will keep my ear to the ground and through my mate, if I get any good gen then you can be sure I will get it up on here for you all.
