I can't believe the person concerned is being discharged just because they have a bad attitude to fitness tests.

It they were going to do that then they might as well kick out all the medically downgraded who can't do the fitness test.

I may be reading your comment wrong but medical downgrading is completely different.

The scenario is you have Cpl Bloggs fails his test (for a non-medical reason), he is then required to complete a period of remedial PT, he fails to attend, he then fails to pass his PT, given further remedial but can't be ar5ed to attend, then can't be ar5ed with doing the FT, despite counselling from his line management still does not pass his PT or attend remedial. this is noted on his F6000 etc. At some point there is a trigger where the RAF will then say get rid. - That is your poor attitude to PT not someone with a genuine reason for medical downgrading.

But what if....
Cpl Bloggs does his job, gets deployed, does his guard duties, works hard at work and feels bad and really doesn't see the point of going to PT and leaving the lads to cover, can't use the GYM cos he has been posted miles from his family and spends all his time money travelling back and forward.

Cpl Sickie doesnt have to do a fitness test cos of a bad back/ gets dizzy spells when going near a gym. Doesn't have to do guard, can't get deployed, sits at desk cos work is too hard.

Oh and Cpl Sickie is a bird!

Now who should be kicked out?

This has been ongoing for some time, the doris has continually failed her test and not turned up for any remedial session nor made any effort to get fit. There has to be some kind of threat or else nobody would bother to do the test.

Both of them.

Cpl Bloggs may not see the point of going to PT but does he pass his FT. If he does then there isn't a problem. However, if he fails and then does nothing to rectify the problem (himself) then IMO he deserves the boot.

Cpl Sickie is different in that it is medical rather than a negative attitude to fitness. That would then be up to the Medics to assess and deal with accordingly. Oh and gender is irrelevant, to me that is a bit like saying Cpl Sickie is gay, it has no bearing at all.

What if Cpl Bloggs attends remedial just can't pass the bleep test?

Then he keeps on going, as said before there are some who will never pass the bleep test, but can still run 5 or 10 milers or more. What we are talking about are those with a sh1t attitude towards the FT and fitness in general i.e. fails because they can't be ar5sed to get themselves to the required standard, not someone who fails but does everything within their power to improve.

Actually I know someone who is attending remedial every week just can't hit the last level of the bleep test that he needs. His Sgt has threated to boot him out if he doesn't pass so im asking with personal interest.

IMO that would be difficult to do, the FT is based on onesize fits all, when clearly it doesn't. However, without knowing the individual and more detail it is hard to say. Personally if that was one of my guys or girls then I wouldn't be saying the same as that sgt.

I thought as much - if he tries it I'll help bury him in paperwork - lol

The problem is Wobbly is that too many people are not meeting the very basic standards of fitness. I know people that never even passed the fitness test when they were at Halton and this has just continued throughout there service career. We are all part of a fighting force and should be fit to do so. I agree Wednesday afternoon should be sports afternoon.

Tell the aircrew, we already know.

has anyone else's mess been inundated with the new RAFFT leaflets? <sigh> just what you need with your tea- being told not only do you have to run more but you gotta do it twice. not that it will make too much difference to our sleepy little wilts airbase as the PTIs here seem to think every time you deploy you should do a FT and we deploy a few times a year :(

Yes we have 100s of the leaflets floating round. Typical RAF - tick in the box for being a military force and we all end up doing extra (ie fitness in our own time).

Right load of balls if you ask me, but it won't matter - when we are part of the Army we will all get time to do fitness!! :PDT_Xtremez_42:

Fitness test every 6 months, with 5 months remedial between each! Yay! I'll either get fit, or come down with some repetive (bleep test) strain injury. Oh well, best I try and get fit. This could potentially affect my beer habit.

so if you fail the fit test does that mean your unfit to deploy ?? and dont go ??

YEH right fat chance sounds like a total waste of time

i wish- nope if you fail you go anyway, i think we just have very sadistic PTIs

Bring it on

Bring it on

I think the new fit test is great, its got to be good for a laugh if nothing else, especially if they enforce it for FS and upwards, can wait to see my WO try and run to level 7 something! Or some chubby doris losing teeth as she does 'proper press ups'. Remedial???? more like paramedics on standby

No doubt, it will only add to the PVR rate. Understaffed, underpaid, fecked about. Sign me up baby! Oh and amen to the fact that if you cant pass it you will still get shafted to go and play sandcastles for 4 months.

You just know that whoever came up with this latest fcukabout factor is merrily driving his desk somewhere without a clue about the morale of his troops.

Lets be fair, you've gotta be embarrassed if you fail the fitness test. Even the top level is less than 11 minutes of running.
