Sounds all well and good for the larger stations.

My mini Unit has 25 on the payrole with sometimes only around 6 at work at any one time due to shift work, OOA and Courses. .

Doesn't this sound familiar......we have approx 110 on sqn strength at the mo.....at most this week on day shift we have seen at most 20 people.........this is because we are still supporting another det AND doing a FULL flying programme with all available aircraft here........along with trying to prep the said aircraft for another frigging det next week.........you gotta love out growbags cause they seem to think everything is rossy on our side of the hangar.

Crack on...................:PDT_Xtremez_09:

I do believe this comes under JOINTRY, the fooking Barmy Army running the show again, all because when they aint fighting anybody they are fighting each other, so to keep them occupied lets do fitness. All well and good for our Green fighting machines, just waiting for that shadow board to be missing an item due to someone forgetting to put it back because they have to rush to the Gym...

It's a quality idea!

I always keep myself at a good level of fitness at circuits, and play my own sports. As soon as the 'compulsory PT' sessions came into play, I ended up on crutches for a fortnight with a torn muscle, risking me going OOA. In my section, 6 others have had injuries from these 'compulsory' sessions.

While I was talking to the doc/physio the other day, the amount of people being signed off has increased since this policy has come in - not from the lardy people who only visit the gym once a year, it's all the people that regularly train!

How can it be a 'quality idea' if it is taking out all the Sport Billys? Or are you serving a large portion of irony?

Very tasty. Is there a side dish of sarcasm to go with it?

Just a fecking shedload. As soon as I hobble to the fridge, it will be with you.

Normally I would have sent one of my troops to fetch it, but they are all signed off sick at the moment with random sporting injuries.

Apologies for the fecking delay.::P:

Over here in wokka land us techies on ExCES (thats the chinook squadron engineers to you) have been doing compulsory PT for a while now. Its not the best attended thing we do mind as they have added it onto our working day 'before' our evening shift. They try and mix it up a bit with one fitness session and one sports, sometimes in the pool etc. TBH when I joined all those years ago i expected to being doing fitness as part of my working week. I think thats where the RAF has failed in this respect, up until now. Do we need test twice a year? maybe not but it sounds like another idea thats gone the way of the deployment fitness test..remember that one!
and although it may sound alien to most raf types what they push alot down here is warfighter first tradesman second..

Well I reckon a hell of a lot of the RAF have heard that one, but only now are they starting to push the fitness out! We now have to do 2 hours IN works time per week.

Now if the lads can find the effort required to do it without being ordered to........

Fitness itself is not the problem here

Fitness itself is not the problem here

Fitness itself is not the problem here, we should all want to maintain a healthy lifestyle, but it is the way these things are brought in by those above that is the problem.

I been a victim of the 'in work time' training where the day has been extended to get the training in, and this is not the right way. If those who are paid the most want a fitter Air Force then they should invest in it, the working week should be amended to allow 3 hours a week for training, and the establishments out there should be changed.

We all know that this aint going to happen, so keep the fitness levels the same as they are until they are willing to reinforce it with the right resources.

On a slightly different note I recently completed my test (beat the 1 Jul deadline) and a few changes crept in, they did not tell you your pass levels to keep you going and then we had a threatening brief from the Snec, warned about the new levels, the twice yearly test to ensure continuity of fitness and that our bosses are being made to take fitness seriously. He then went on to mention that an individual had been kicked out already for not following his remedial training (anybody know who this is).

Getting a bit long this one but must mention that just as the Snec got to the end of his threat, a young lad who had given his all, couple of extra levels and double the sit/push ups keeled over and passed out, whilst the PTI was providing first aid I helpfully mentioned that he was a fit un and had put in a best effort and was a good example to us all, (PTI not chuffed)

Never failed never will

Got told by my WO yesterday, that the new fitness test has definately been pushed back till next year!!

Still haven't seen anything in writing as yet. Can anyone shed any light on this as it means I can carry on eating pies for a bit longer before panicking, power dieting, spend forty squid trying to work out how 6 second-abs works and then running to and from the pub thinking this is helping prepare me for the new RAFFT :PDT_Xtremez_31:

As a Chf Clk, you'll be the last to know! Glad it's not just mine who's a lazy bar-steward! Defo put back according to the PTI's!

This is only my opinion but some camps have been using the new figures and I think the results when passed back to whoever haven't been great...so whoever has now decided to give us a bit longer for your 3 times 50 min sessions at the gym every week to take effect...

Trouble is how many are managing the 3 visits?

They are still pushing 'best effort' here! Did mine today but only for a decent VO2 Max as I'm no shuffling ****e. No greyhound either BTW :PDT_Xtremez_26:

Well the reason behind this is simple and please be patient as its only a short winge.
I am fast approching the big 40 and have to do the raf fitness test aswell as my rofa etc anyway last week was bleep test day so up I turn and am the oldest there, anyway had this lad who is 23 and was gobbing off about how he was going to become a SF medic and his course was 4 weeks away so I thought (well then you should give me a run for my money) and I SAID I'LL TRY AND KEEP UP WITH YOU:PDT_Xtremez_08: .
ANYWAY WE GOT TO 5.3 AND HE GIVE'S UP What a w23NKER .:PDT_Xtremez_25:
so it prove's that our Royal Air Force does need to improve its fitness programme and remember WARFIGHTER FIRST :PDT_Xtremez_30:

THE BLUE THE BLUE THE COVERTED BLUE WORN BY MANY EARNED BY OH SO FEW!!!!
PER ARDUA

Rest assured, i can state with 100% accuracy that the young man in question was binned off that course within an hour of starting it! Wonder if he is still gobbing off about being an "SF" medic?

Going to check with our mirror mech today once he's finished double booking the squash court.
