Its ok pushing the levels up, but without the time to get to the gym within the working hours is always going to throw up failures.
I/We see that different sections of the station can afford to attend the 3 lunchtime circuit sessions during work time, as they can leave about 11-45am to go the gym to be back at 1-15pm to start work again.
For the people on the flight line, squadrons, aircrew etc, there is simply no time to pop down to the gym during the working day. Maybe on the odd chance when they are night flying, but when the time comes, you find that you dont have your kit with you, prepped.
Its ok saying that you can use the gym on-site, but people sometimes need to have someone shouting at them to work harder in the gym, otherwise you can simply programme a 30min run in, and press the STOP button when you get tired, bored. There is no stop button in the gym.
You simply say do the gym work after work time, or before. Well what happens if you live out, and that means you travel 25-30mile a day from lincoln, spalding etc. You cant just pop into the gym as you have up too 45mins travelling time before and after work. Therefore the 9hr day, is pushed out too 11hrs already before you get home.
Ive failed the fitness test before, though im sure enough fit to do my job.
I would like to see the raf kick someone out, or fail to promote them over the RAF FT, when they person is perfectly capable of carrying out the duty they get paid for.
I imagine it would not be long before the difference between the male & female levels were pointed out, and used against them.
Both males and females carry out the same job. They both should be tested up too the same level.
Take 2 people from the same age group, at the same age.
Give a male a burgen, webbing and rifle and ask him to run.
Give a female a burgen, webbing and rifle and ask her to run.
My money would be on the male performing better in all areas.
