In the training environment for sure, in the real world, nope.

It does happen...we (and I can't remember the exact number) 1022'd or it could have been 1023'd a Flt Lt at Northwood because he said he was up to it, tried, failed, blamed others and was caught out...bye bye.

Exception rather than the rule mate, c'mon you know that.

agreed...this was a rare occasion where they turned on one of their own...he was an ex-WO who had done the KFS course at Cranwell and I think the pure bloods 'didn't like his type' to be honest.

Using this as a broad brush to taint the integrity of all JOs is a sad sight.

I dont think it is this thread that has led to the broadbrush but rather peoples experiences of being sh@t on from a great height by self serving JOs.

Are all JOs like this? Of course not, but it is human nature to show distrust after being stung.

Personally I've seen no trend between rank/trade/branch/commission and cretin status. Good and bad throughout in equal measure.

I have to ask, are you employed by the RAF to drive for a living? MAA, whilst irritating is not a major drama. Now, should it cause you stress and unnecessary anxiety you could hand back your FMT600. Each time you need to travel ask for a driver. That way there's no risk of an accident through you worrying about an inadvertent MAA, and the MT drivers get some trade. Should there not be enough drivers then they'll hire more.
If you feel bullied and harassed into driving I'm sure there are people that can explain that route too.
An Air Officer recently told us in Lincolnshire that until the system fails they will keep applying the pressure, until they know the limit. Read between the lines and all becomes apparent.

Ref the requesting a driver, I did this once to call an NCO's bluff when I was a maggot OCdt at Cranwell. Works well, I had the MT Controller ringing to tell me I must be able to self drive, he had no drivers, pointed out my knee was in a brace and I would be breaking standing order if I drove. Then told me I should request a rail warrant, told him I was entitled to MT as such that's my method of travel. They had to get someone in on O/T to collect me from my home in Kent to take me back to Cranditz for a 5 minute appt and then home again.

MAA review upheld 12 days later ffs, apparently the delay couldn't have been avoided. Also parity of treatment isn't an issue as lots of people are getting done for it, yeah course they are.

Like him, been on both sides. It's really on both sides and dependent upon type, not trait.

I agree with Foghorn and Stevienics. However, when it's a Zob doing the back stabbing it resonates more powerfully through their workforce as our fearless leaders are 'meant' to be above reproach.

Applecruncher,

Please see entry#22 in the thread. I had great fun getting that one sorted but it was worth it!

Yes but the good old RAF employ you within a post that requires you drive, if it says so on your PIC, so if you hand in your FMT600 then surely you are not employable in that PIC????
Late see how many people are willing to hand their 600's if that were the case!!!!

We were told that as it was on your PIC then you have to drive. My argument was that I paid for my license, not the RAF, so it should be my decision on whether I want to drive.... And then argued that if I was already on the admin action route then I could feign injury to protect my arse....as could anyone else

Or pers could feign injury.....? Seems to work for DWRs....

On a separate note, what if I didnt have a licence? Would I be in limbo wrt my employment if I had to wait for a course? What if I was disqualified from driving upon arriving at a new job? Not one to normally pick holes, but....
