Pay Rise 2009

We've actually got a pay rise. Some civvies are working a 4 day week with no pay rise and they're on much lower wages in many cases. I'm more than happy.

And let us not forget that some will not be here to enjoy the payrise at all.

Our's are petty complaints.

NAT, it looks to me like the £4.75 for 'Generalist' and £10.11 for 'Specialist' Nurses is a per day payment whilst employed in those 'areas', in addition to the rise from moving across onto the Nurses pay spine....

If you are a top (increment 7 of 7) Sgt, specialised in A/E, ITU or O/Th i make it a pay rise from today's rates of approx. £7K / year!? What think'eth thee?

It all looks good to me.

New pay-spine and Specialist Pay from 1 Aug. 2.8% from today.

I'm not a 'specialist specialist', but a 'generalist specialist' which should give me an extra £1700 or so on top of the £2000 from moving to the new pay-spine.

So in total, just over £3500 for Mrs NAT to buy frocks, shoes, bags and dishwashers with.

Whoever negotiated this for us has done us a real service. If I find out who, I might even buy them a pint at the next PMRAFNS Conference Dinner.

Perhaps we should 'loan' whoever did the job to TG1? They sound like they could do with the help from a Branch that seems to have some proper leadership...

Not sure is this is the right place to post but has anyone else noticed that giving new Cpl to Sgts a min of 5% really gives a kick in the slats to others?

I myself have been a Sgt for 19 months and on level 4, a new Sgt as 1st of April also goes in at level 4, plus of course £250 for their mess dress! Even worse, a Cpl promoted on 31 Mar will go in at level 3 no grant, whereas one promoted on the 1 Apr will luck in!

So what the hell will be done about it then? Cock all I expect! How can it be right that a new Sgt gets paid the same as one with coming on 2 years seniority? One of the basic ideas of Pay2000 was to give incremental pay recognising time served, we might as well go back to the old way then!

The same thing happened when P2K was introduced, SAC promoted 1st of april or after got an increment above an SAC who was promoted before april 1st. So you were penalised for being promoted/penalised earlier.

These complaints will always come up but what would you suggest, backdating it to the beginning of the Airforce?

Get real guys, a new scheme has to have a start date.

That doesn't mean that their complaints are without foundation and should not be addressed though does it.

The complaints are without foundation. The only ones who could justify a complaint are those that were promoted early to save money when Paycut 2000 came in.

Complaining about the 5% OR6 payrise is just that; complaining.

If I wanted to jump on the band wagon, I could ask where my £10,000 is to bring me in line with those new entrants on the £15,000 bonus scheme.......

The only way to stop the complaining is to halt progress and nobody would want that.

While you have a point here.

The introduction of P2K caused no end of problems due to exactley what i had stated about those that had been in less time being incremented above those that had joined/promoted earlier(complete opposite of what the system was suppossed to address ie rewarding longer serving people). There was a parlimentary enquiry over the disparities that this introduced.

As for bombsons comment he was stating exactly what will happen fair or not.

Hi Guys,
Does anybody know where I can find the new payscales from the pay rise. I have no access to the intranet, as I am serving overseas at a satellite unit with no local admin support either. (well I am until next Friday, when I become a mister!!!). Does anybody have any gen about the increase to the pension (old scheme), as I can't access the pension calculator either.

Im liking this bit having served only 7 years!

Recommendation 3: We endorse the new Commitment Bonuses from 1 April 2009
for new entrants and those with less than 4 years’ service. We also endorse the
transitional arrangements for the current scheme which increases the total bonus
to £8,000 for those with between 4 and 8 years’ service.

thats on page 23 of the report.

what do you make of that?

Well, really glad with having a pay rise, how currently at my 7.5 yr point as of 20th March, so i sh!t out of the new increase, well i guess they have to cut it somewhere don't they.:PDT_Xtremez_42:

taking the paragraph word for word, you should still be eligible for the extra £2500 if you still under the 8 year point.

One of our guys phoned the popstar who sent out the directive. He's done 7.5 and had his bonus and apparently he is still eligible for the extra 2.5k.

The popstar then directed his people to stop plebs phoning him up. :PDT_Xtremez_14:

you lost me here mate. is this a sarcastic response or is popstar a term for something thats gone over my head lol.

Is this pukka gen?

I'm in the same situation, 7.5 years in, Mar 09, bonus paid, thought that was that, cheers RAF....... but if there is a chance of getting some more coin, I won't argue.

Is there a DIN out yet?

I called the shineys this morning and they said unlucky rubber ducky, I would appreciate if someone can clarify this, because another £1900 (after tax) will buy me a nice holiday!

Cheers

Love these forums BTW!:PDT_Xtremez_14:

The complaints are without foundation. ......

Without wanting to get into a fruitless argument I would say that someone who has seniority and is getting paid less than a newly promoted indivdual has full grounds to complain, whine and b1tch as much as they like.
It might not change the overall outcome, but they're still entitled to have a pop.
They could release their tension by punching a smug shiney in the face of course. That's if they can find one of the workshy, overpaid 'popstars'.
