Pay Rise

Just spoke to a geezer recently back from somewhere hot, but rained over Christmas, and the guys and girls had a visit from the CinC (somebody high up apparently) who told them this years pay rise is going to be 13% (yes thirteen percent). Any gen out there?

Blimey there is nothing like splitting hairs. I think you will find, what I was inferring is that Many Nurses from the NHS are moving abroad as they get paid a lot more for better working conditions.. Where in that statement did I say that it was due to the way they are being treated by the Government?

Quite right.

Anyway in the house of Commons last Monday Lord Garden asked
"With regard to the morale of our troops, this may sound as if it is a long way from operations in Afghanistan, but it will be important to them: when will the Armed Forces Pay Review Body report be published? It is now more overdue than it has ever been, and it will be taken by the troops as a signal of how much the Government value what they are doing."

The answer came back as

"I do not have an update for the House on the timing of the pay review report. If I can get some information, I will write to noble Lords with an answer."

Obviously waiting for a big event to happen in order to sneak out the report whilst nobody is looking.

Anyway...................................................................... pay rise = 3.3%

Brown announces below-inflation pay rises
By Ben Hall, Political Correspondent

Published: March 1 2007 12:39 | Last updated: March 1 2007 12:39

More than 1m public sector workers are to receive average pay increases of 1.9 per cent this year, well below consumer price inflation which stands at 2.7 per cent, Gordon Brown told the Commons on Thursday.

Pay rises for doctors, nurses, prisons officers and senior civil servants are to be staged, with a 1.7 per cent increase from April and a 2.2 per cent increase from November, producing an average of 1.9 per cent for the year.

Members of the armed forces, except senior officers, will receive inflation-busting rises of 3.3 per cent for the year.

Mr Brown has repeatedly called for public sector pay increases to fall in line with the Bank of England’s 2 per cent inflation target.

His decision to stage the increases for public sector workers comes at a politically sensitive time, given the recent surge in inflation, now slowing, and the role of the public service unions in a possible Labour leadership election this year.

Government departments will give further detail of the rises for their staff later on Thursday.

The pay review bodies that recommend rises for public sector workers are understood to have proposed increases of less than 2.7 per cent but more than 2 per cent.

The staging of the increases underscores the chancellor’s determination to prevent a wage-price spiral and to make life easier for the Bank’s monetary policy committee, which sets interest rates.

That has been happening for fcuking years!!:PDT_Xtremez_08:
If you start it in General Chit Chat that is exactly what you should expect. Perhaps it would have been taken a bit more seriously in Current Affairs (I can move it if you want)

Hu

So, 3.3% eh. Must try not to spend it all at once.

And how much are our deductions going up by?
More than 3.3%, for sure.

Ar5e!
Robbing barstewards.......
Whats the betting that we wont see that altogether for quite some time when it gets into the matrix money losing system we call JPA?

You have to sympathise with the nurses, they work their butts off for a meagre financial reward. Had to mention that, the new lady in my life is one!! Very nice lass with a cute bum, does great massages . . . .

. . .sorry, back to the tread, has the 3% been officially announced yet?

Nurses deserve far more money than they recieve (on a promise this weekend) for what must be a rewarding if not stressful occupation. Have you noticed most female nurses have large bums. . . . . .

. . . sorry (again), mind keeps wandering, back on thread again, there's another interesting thread regarding the lack of money within the MOD which is worth a read.

Anyone for golf??

So what you are saying is your increase in pay could be directly proportional to the size of your arse? Christ...if that's the case there will be some rich fkin waffs at the secret London base::D:

Yes I realise that. We've never been appreciated properly - thats something I realised a long time ago unfortunately. I'm not saying that it's what we deserve 'cos obviously it isn't. The Govt never appears to take notice of what is plainly obvious to everyone else - eg the PVRs that you quoted are a perfect example - mind you the Top Brass tend to look the other way on that count as well. No one is really interested in the Armed Forces, particularly the welfare of their personnel and families. It is only when we're required to cover strike action for everyone else that this country seems to recognise that it actually has an Army/Navy/Air Force and how jolly good we are too........till its all over that is then we're forgotten about again till the next "emergency".

Any news yet on how much they are going to stiff us for in MQ/accom charges this year, if it eats up the pay rise it's probably going to be PVR time.
