Nope it was a night out in London, funny as! In the middle of the street too! God he stank after that, somehow he got back to the hotel to change though.

All Low Pay Band

All Low Pay Band

We are all going onto low pay band in 2008 anyway so that will soon wipe the smile off the TCOs faces. Look at the long term, especially you tubes fresh from training with the attitudes(of all trades)...The quick CPL promotions will soon dry up and people will have to start earning it again, by organising bingo in a tent on OOA ops.
We have no JTs, No new SAC(T)s and no Chief Techies, therfore once us old boys go there will be no techies and hence no techie pay.
We are all:PDT_Xtremez_14: going to be one trade whether we climb ladders(riggers), fix stuff (exTechies)or type stuff(TCOs)

Pessimistic?

Pessimistic?

Possibly Mug.
What you said about the new recruits is true though. They come out of training with a bad attitude. When I left training I wouldn't say boo to a goose, let alone my Cpl! Now they don't think twice about back chatting when you tell them to do something. Cosford blame Halton and Halton blame Cosford, somewhere along the line they are picking this attitude up and it needs sorting out!

Yes... cos that's all TCO's do isnt it? Answer the phone and type....

I dont care if they bring in the low pay band in the future as i will already be on the high, and they cant take it off of you!!

Aye, but wing boy, can't they hold you at a paylevel until everybody else catches up??

whoa

whoa

I've been away for a bit, so i couldn't keep up with this thread. It has been a good read this morning, I was looking for a general opinion from both sides. Boy did I get one, thanks to everyone who's posted and keep it up.

I'll just add that this whole mess lies on the head of our trade sponsor. Who i asked to explain the choice. His answer.... YOU wouldn't understand you're only a CPL!

That is a gauge of he thinks of his own trade.....God help us

Personally I think that TG11 would die a horrible and painful death without the change, No more comcen, better comms, E-mail, almost everyone in the airforce doing ECDL- which is pretty much covers a TCO's job.

What have they got left, signals maybe!

I'm sure somebody out there is now spitting chips.. so explain to me how your trade would survive if you hadn't stole a chunk of ours....If you argument is strong and reasoned (not just insults and boll*cks) you might change a few minds.

Its a big sh*t sandwich and we all have to take a bite

Im TG11 and I agree with you.
Our trade was dying, there is less call for formal messaging, HF? whats that? I think 81 SU was the last of our main HF outlets and that no longer exists. Only the DATO jobs were reasonably safe and they can probably be civilianised. But, somone dreamed up the idea of having BNCCs and that got handed to TG11.
Rumour gossip is that your trade sponsor is actually ex-TG11, read into that what you will!

Great Info!!

Great Info!!

Well my first post, thought I might find some useful info about the assim course but hey, just a lot of flaming going on between the wing guys n gals. What does it matter what trade we are now, give it a few years (I'll be sipping red wine in the sun by then) and we'll all be the same anyway.
Why not try and get on and when working together then learn to hate each other for the f**k ups that are going to happen from both sides.

Can't wait to turn down the assim and forever be a fat, lazy techie waiting for my pension.

1.No offense to the TCO's out there ( to be fair to you its not what you joined up to do) but do you think you can do a techs job. I suspect there are those that can, but how many accidents will it need to prove that alot just can't.QUOTE]

Hey guys

I know its not what i joined up to do, i never joined up to do Commcen either (bloody AFCO's) but trade sponsors didnt really give me a choice, it was either tg4 or stay tg11 and do a few more years, then out!

Yes i can do a techies job! But the whole point of TG4 will not change the way things are done, example.. If a MUX breaks, i will call a TG3 person to come and fix it, thats there job at the end of the day.
TG4 is all about IT, its more IT based that TG11 and TG3, we now get to do BNCC, Web master, IT support ect. ect. (thats what i joined todo!)

Techies will still make up the cables and stand around replacing boards and stuff!

I dont class me self as a techie, and i will never wear the techie rank slide!

There will always be a devide, especially on TCW.

Everybody has there opinion on the whole TG4 thing, but its down to the individual i guess. i think TG4 is **** loads better than TG11! better still, never leaving TCW :D:PDT_Xtremez_42:

Techie or not techie...that is the question ???

Techie or not techie...that is the question ???

I joined as a DE (go on then...spit if you must !!) L Tech TC and went through Assimilation to become an Eng Tech EL......and stayed a TC !!!

Here we go again....I've done the assimilation to TG 4 and am now a CIS Tech....and I'm still a TC.

It doesn't matter what you are now, or what you joined as, or even when you joined........

We'll all soon be assimilated into the Borg Collective that is DCSA.....

Resistance is futile !!!!!

'75 - that any good? I left as the OC IT at TDSU Halton in 2001 (as a chief...) - does this mean that TG3 has disappeared up its own ying-yang then?

Sold Out

Sold Out

We were sold out by a bully and a lack of any balls by our own trade sponsor....
But we will continue to fight until the last one of us ends up on the helpdesk.

I still don't think they realise the harm they have done to the operational effectiveness in the future guys.

TG4 is mainly an IT trade-anyone can keep clicking menus until they find the right tick box/ radio button. The less we do the more rusty we will become, when can we rely on the civvies to go and run our sat link in Basra or operate our missile magnet radars on the top of a hill down south while we sit on the phone in between filling sandbags. SORRY got all bitter and twisted-told you the TG3 bit of me will always be there ! !

" '75 - that any good? I left as the OC IT at TDSU Halton in 2001 (as a chief...) "

I was only just learning to walk then, but I still made Locking towards the end and as I am sure you know we don't have any Chiefs now ether just experienced SGTs.

I didn't - and i'm shocked... I've lost touch totally - just found e-goat by accident... I have to say, Its about time that they organised some "proper" support for IT within the mob, but I'm a bit perturbed to hear that the "Mrs" are looking after the kit now.

I hope you had a monumental p1ss-up when it went to TG4!

Whoa there

Whoa there

They haven't organised any proper support for IT.

They have chucked a few courses at those in the slots and then post them away and send someone from a radar site to take over. Then previous IT Guru comes back and it has all changed. Using the peanuts to provide some IT stability seems limited to helpdesk and the odd few that can do the job well.

But IT is all getting handed over to Civvies soon and we head towards centralised servers. So the ex 11s will be out on their ear again, sure the good WO trade sponser will come up with a new plan (I think he was hoping to cash in on the redundancies) look out coppers, now you have high band you may get a load of ex peanuts to help with the passes in the guardroom. Or maybe chefs need someone to do the dishes.....?

lets face it! every ones bitchin but its going to be 90 Sigs ' Thousand C*nts on a wireless ' from now on. Who give a flying F*ck if us peanuts have been given a second chance! It wasnt our fault, we didnt join up to get screwed over by progress. Lets get back to the crew room and put our feet up like before! :PDT_Xtremez_23: ::D:

I've just had some time looking thru the thread... and all I can say is good luck guys. It was all beginning to go for a ball of chalk when I jumped, and by the sound of it - I'm glad I did...

Whats the old saying? "don't buy a house, don't buy a car..."

First Op Maintainers on their way .....

First Op Maintainers on their way .....

For those of you who don't know.....

The first Op/Maintainers "graduate" from dear old 1RS on 20th June......

Poor sods have no idea where they are going yet, nor (more importantly) what roles they will be going to fill.

Will be interesting to get some feedback from their receiving units after a while to see if 1RS has managed to cobble together something half decent from the total cluster fcuk that our dearly beloved trade sponsors left us with when they came up with the half baked plan of joining 3/5/11 in the first place.

PS.

Be gentle with them if you're fortunate enough to get one straight out of the box, they break easily !!!

mygiveafukometeraintmovin mate, Im in a perfect OM/IM slot at the moment... There are 15/20 personnel in the section but we are looking down the barrel of a shot gun bud. Bloody Civvies are taking all our slots, and I think that this is going to be the norm from now on bud. The only thing that us peanuts have got to look forward to is Leeming, and I can tell you I dont fancy that prospect! :PDT_Xtremez_08:
