Tranche 2

Still worth applying though. Makes me laugh ges have higher levels of responsibilty and yet not looked upon favourably for promotion....although they do mega times away and therefore unable to do rubbishy secondary duties etc etc......joke!!! Hope they all pvr in protest lol

PTIs have taken a rather harsh hit haven't they? Up to 5 x WO. Up to 15 x FS. Up to 40 x Sgt and up to 35 x Cpl.

The GETC must be going nuts. They've been begging for PTI manpower to help run their Eagle schemes.

[h=The RAF want 5000 to go by 2015, only about 1000 to be made / get redundancy - 4000 by 'natural wastage' / lower recruiting. For 'natural wastage' read - demoralize your senior workforce to the point where they cannot tolerate the job any longer, threaten their pension, and wait for them to request Premature Voluntary Release (which attracts no severance pay). Great strategy, really upholding the sprit of the military covenant!]6[/h]

How very true.

The MRa4 GE bit is that they are all fully trained across all aircraft trades and can sign LIMS/ADFs, etc. The fact that there are no Nimrods anymore doesn't bother manning. All they can see is trained guys with some nice Q's...

Anyone know how many PTI's we have in the RAF at present?

I miss out on a pension by 1 fecking day. If the out date was 12th June 2013 i'd just cream in b'stards!!

Anyone know why if you are in or going to afghanistan around the 12th June 2012 you cannot be made redundant? Is it some sort of PR bollocks?::P:

510! FFS.....

Reckon quite a few could be PJI's? Based on the fact we don't seem to be training para's anymore in the art of jumpind out of serviceable aircraft...

As I understand it you can be if you apply, but no-one on Ops can be made compulsory redundant. And yes, I believe it's to avoid the bad press of kicking frontline troops out on their ears.

The MRA 4 GE Q only barred one person from applying as far as I know as there was only one ever given the Q (and he's PVR'd lol) The R1 and MR2 Q caught a couple of people last time but I don't think it stops many now as most have PVR'd anyway.

Yup i know the guy who PVR'd when he was told he wasn't being made redundant 2 months before it was officially announced. It's complete crap at the end of the day. If someone want's to go let them go. You just wind them up even more if they don't want to stay in.

I'm now in the frame by 6 weeks when I was safe from Tranche 1.

Although I don't particularly want to go with just over 3 years left I've crunched the figures and worked out that by volunteering for redundancy I could actually end up with a bigger pension (APFS 75). I've based my assumption on the fact pensions are connected to pay and over the next 3 years we will receive little or no pay rise and I don't get promoted in time to receive the benefits. Pensions are indexed by Consumer Price Index (CPI) from the day you start receiving them and at the moment the CPI increase exceeds the the uplift from the extra time served. Has anyone else come to the same conclusion?

There is an option (see DIN 2012DIN01-006) to fix your pension at 5 April 2012 and allow it to grow with CPI (rather than increase with further reckonable service). Although primarily aimed at individuals whose annual pension on retirement is £65K it is open to anyone and at the moment that could be considered a good move for someone leaving in the time covered by pay freeze and max 1% pay rise.
Is anyone else considering this option?
