Collected 2 in almost 11 years service. Got the QGJM for getting some time in and received the Iraq medal for keeping Alberts engines happy in Basra.
No doubt with the UK's policy of fending of the raghead hoards there are possibly more in the offing.
:PDT_Xtremez_28:

6 including GSM 2 clasps, Gulf 91,EUFOR, ACSM, LSGC and clasp oh and the queens golden thingy, in 35 yrs.

Not been caught yet....:PDT_Xtremez_08:

I know of an air steward (out now) who had 12 - most proud of his Falklands Medal, which he got as a stretcher bearer at the Red & Green Life Machine at Goose Green.:PDT_Xtremez_28:
Can't say that I blame them. If you feel that you have made a difference, no matter what the theatre is, then you will be justifiably proud of that medal. The medal that I disparage most yet am proudest of is my UNPROFOR medal as I know that my meagre efforts made a difference and at the end of the day, that is what it comes down to. Making a difference in a good way (abuse me by PM if you disagree) is the one thing that I feel that we, as UK forces, do best.

4 in 18 yrs (Jubilee, Long Gong, Basrah and Kandahar) plus the NATO for Kandahar which I'm not allowed to wear.

16 1/2 Years,

More conflict areas than I can remember and I've got 2 medals to show for it!

1 because the Queen's old, 1 because I'm old.

If I was a Yank I'd need a spare chest to hang me gongs on, but because I've spent most of my time on Alberts I've never stayed more than a couple of hours in the nasty places I've been whilst on route.

I nearly fecked up in 1999 and managed 27 days in the Gulf, that was close :PDT_Xtremez_14:

I'm just aiming to finish me 22 with only the free ones to show for it.

2 in 10 1/2 years:

1. GSM with clasp 'air ops iraq'

2. OP TELIC 2003

Theres a rumour going round that subsequent trips to the gulf (iraq) qualify you for a bar on the OP TELIC medal.

Bullsh*t? not seen it anywhere...

It's pure, unadulterated BS unfortunately mate. Otherwise there'd be guys with 4-5 bars by now!

However, if you do enough trips, they all add up to the Accumulated Service Medal, but you need to spend a substantial amount of time in theatre to get it.

Possibly Im being VERY stupid here.

Is the BFG medal a genuine one?

This is the text that came with it.

"This medal has been struck to commemorate service with British Forces in Germany between 1945 and 1989. The BFG Commemorative medal is available to all qualifying servicemen and women.

The ribbon has been carefully designed to reflect our membership of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and our years of involvement in the Federal German Republic. The German national colours rest between equal vertical bands of NATO blue"

REALLY! when?
