Prince Charles can wear a medal given to him for his Mother's Coronation when he was 4 years old and his 2 sons can wear the QGJ medal given when they were not in the forces.

Well, that is pathetic, but members of the forces "earned" theirs. Even though all you had to do was serve 5 years :)

UN Service Medal (UNHCR airlift to Sarajevo in 93)
Kosovo
Pan Balkans (can't wear it cos I did second Kosovo tour but still got it awarded??!!)
Long Gong
Jubilee

Sandpit trips are too short to qualify.

Anyone see the spoof medal ribbon sheet that came round last year, reckon I would get 3 rows out of that:PDT_Xtremez_30:

6 including GSM 2 clasps, Gulf 91,EUFOR, ACSM, LSGC and clasp oh and the queens golden thingy, in 35 yrs.

Not been caught yet....:PDT_Xtremez_08:

I know of an air steward (out now) who had 12 - most proud of his Falklands Medal, which he got as a stretcher bearer at the Red & Green Life Machine at Goose Green.

After 17 1/2 years still only got the GJ & LS. After being on 3 Ops Sqn's have been lucky or unlucky depending on your outlook on life(without having 1 single day off sick). Spending almost the past 9 yrs on an OCU didn't help I suppose, even missed out on GW2 as I had to go and defend the FI from the Argies. Still the way things are in the world at the moment & Labours policy on fighting anything & anybody that reads the Koran there might still be time to get some to make the kids proud.

Provided you served the qualifying period for the award of the medal, and you were correctly OMIS reported to/from theatre, you can apply. Approach your PSF, they've got a piece of paper that needs to be sent off.

There are still some things that get you permanently debarred from the award of the Long Gong, generally they are civvy offences like theft, but can include things like a formal warning for social misconduct (sh@gging the Stn Cdr's daughter).

Not the Stn Cdr's daughter, but boning the wrong 'Mrs' lost me my Long Gong, contesting it but expect to be told 'no chance'.

However, as it is not an offence you can get done for in civvie street I am considering taking it to my MP if asking nicely does not work.

Should long service still be recognised even if you get caught ? I think so !

I think i should have a medal just for being me LOL :PDT_Xtremez_30:

None in 9 years, No reason apart from getting promoted at the wrong
time (or right time depending on your perspective) and dropping down the list when my name popped up.
It's happened twice now, so I reckon I'm due a lengthy excursion to the sandpit at some point.

6 in 17 years...

Just about to be promoted again (which in my case means definately going off on my travels again soon - the 'Saddam Beach Plazza' is calling...)

Deep Joy... :PDT_Xtremez_42:

Two promotions in nine years, bloody hell!

Question for airforceone, kerrang, pueblos, Silverback, and skevans

What have you been doing to get more medals than the most militant yank!?:PDT_Xtremez_28:

Just my job mate.

Soon to get another two, LS&GC and expecting to be Iraq for Christmas :(

6 in just over 20 yrs. And the NATO thing for Afghan. Just picked them up from the tailors.

Honest they are all mine

Honest they are all mine

My total of 62 far outstrips anything I've seen on here so far.
GSM (NI & Air Ops Iraq), ACSM and a collection of 60 campaign and gallantry medals purchased with my hard earned RAF wages.

I was lucky as my time in didn't coincide with all the crap that todays troops have to deal with.
