Doesn't take much working out that the vast majority, if not all (at the moment) of ACSM holders were NI vets.
Was a bit annoyed that I didn't qualify for the ACSM after my 3 years in NI due to the fact that I did 2 OP Pennants with III Sqn which involved spending 8 weeks out of the province, therefore cutting down my number of days 'in theatre'. ::/:

That just leaves me with 2 official ones (GSM(NI) and GW1 with Clasp) and 2 unofficial ones, Kuwaiti 'Liberation of Kuwait Medal' and the Saudi 'Liberation of Kuwait Medal'.

Cpl Jumpjet got an AOC-in-C RAFG commendation in 1984. Nothing shiny with ribbons though to show for 12 years .... guess I'll have to look at some of those commemorative medals to compete with today's techies!

In 24 years I have picked up the following;

GSM Air Ops Iraq
NATO Former Yugoslavia
NATO Kosovo
OSM Afghanistan WB
Iraq WB
QGJM
LSGCM
NATO ISAF A Military keepsake or so it says on the box -picked up on 2nd tour and consigned to the drawer of random military stuff.

P.S Isn't that Iraq/TELEC medal a B**ger to keep clean!

I quailified for 6 in two years but just by chance, I never at home but the £2000 bonus was nice. Anybody beat that?

Queens Jubliee
LSGC
GSM NI
BOSNIA
AFGHAN:PDT_Xtremez_42:
IRAQ

6 and counting!

6 and counting!

Air Ops Iraq - 96
Kosovo - 99
FRY - 00
Afghanistan - 01
Golden McNugget - 02
Long Service and not got caught - 05

and 5 of them came whilst in 1 posting!

5 months? You've got another 19 to wait then.:PDT_Xtremez_30:

Been waiting 4 years for my Telic Medal (although it was Army)

Before about 1990 anyone with more than two medals was looked at as if they were a warry mo fo
I remember getting to Wittering and almost everyone seemed to have a SA medal - very ally

I personally think that we will return soon to the days of people with only a few medals as OP banner and Kosavo etc wind down we will probably in the future only see Iraq and Afghanistan

Whilst serving with the HCR it wasn't unusual for people to have done 5 or 6 tours of Kosavo and Bosnia some lads were doing litteraly 6 months on 6 months off if they wanted to.

That plus some of them in 2004 were back on their second tour of Iraq and have now completed at least a tour of Afghanistan as well

Got the GSM(NI), LS&GCM (with Clasp for being really old), QGJ, Kosovo & MSM. The only one that means anything is the MSM, in the year I got mine only 5 were awarded and it did feel special. However, with over 60 a year being awarded now it seems to be becoming less so. The GSM for 4 weeks at Aldergrove and the Kosovo medal for 4 months in Pristina are a joke when I consider what the guys on the ground in the desert go through and only get similar recognition.

Bosnia/Kosovo, Telic 1 Fighting Medal, Afghanistan, Air Ops Iraq and the free one.

Mind you, I worked with a WO stacker who'd spent most of his life on TSW and had a noticeable lean to the left. Mind you, the R Sigs Major we worked with had two full rows (he'd done SF sigs and had been everywhere including Oman ops - when the f*** were we there???) and I worked with a load of ATOs (RLC Ammunition Technical Officers) in one job and, as they do all that bomb disposal type stuff, I felt somewhat ashamed around those fellas.

How many are on SHF

How many are on SHF

I have 8(not includning the 3 we cant wear), and as do most of my colleagues. Interested to know the percentage of those with 8 that are not on SHF(Support Helicopter Force). If anyone. Currently in afghan at the mo, back august then back out again october, shame we dont get a medal for each tour.

More medals

More medals

Interesting question swordsman. I'm a medic and currently have 8 medals (not including the ones we can't wear until we leave) but I think you'll find that some tragegroups, especially chefs, police etc will have the same amount if they're of a certain age. I'm off to Afghanistan later this year so will look forward to having yet another one. Kenny Everitt anyone?!

4 in 18.

Former Yugoslavia
Chocolate one
Undetected Crime
Op Herric.

5 if you include the ISAF one.

Who knows if I'll get more - probably!:PDT_Xtremez_34:

12 years regular & 8 with the Auggies = Granby and the freebie, mind you I have a fair bit of shrapnel from Bahrain and Oman.

And a few notes which I forgot to get shot of ................................

After 21 years 8 months (but who's counting) got 5, GSM, BOSNIA/KOSOVO, LS&GC, JUBILEE,TELIC (with rossette). Just a shame you don't get any further recognition for extra OOAs done to the same sand pit, especially after last years but thats another story as they say.
