Any one fancy a new no fly zone det to Aki?

BBC saying if the UN vote yes to the no fly zone over Lybia (in the next hr or so) then RAF Jets could be in action over the contry tomorrow!!!!!!

I know were good but unless theres a hidden sqn or two out there then I very much doubt it!!!!!

SDSR (didnt see this comming did yah!)

They may not be taking the Reds out to Libya, but they will take this lot out there... on account of the fact that they did so well over Libya last time!:PDT_Xtremez_30:

HTB

Never set a dangerous precedent, It will come back and bite you in the @rse
That's the 2nd time I've read/heard that in the past few days. Sadly we've (the royal "we've"!) gotta do what needs doing and face the consequences afterward... this could be the RAFs swansong :PDT_Xtremez_42:

I agree that our continued ability to do more with less ends up being our biggest problem, but l also this is exactly what the Air Force is all about and it's a fantastic opportunity for us to show what we can do and put a bit of pride back in the RAF, which, lets face it, isn't full of smiley faces just now! If I wasn't in the bloody desert I'd be chomping at the bit to get involved!

It's now officially Serious.

I've just seen that ringpiece John Nichols spouting his opinions on BBC.
They also showed some nice footage of Tornados "lining up to depart overseas." Erm, no, that'll be XV line :PDT_Xtremez_30:

Let's hope it doesn't deteriorate as far as deploying our tactical Kate Adie option :-(

Try the same thing when the cuts have been fully implemented and after the redundees have gone - no Nimrod, no Sentinel, no Tornados and no HMS Cumberland....might have been a different story. They are just lucky that this has happened now at the announcement stage; if this doesn't show them that you can't keep cutting critical assets then absolutely nothing else will.

I had to love how Cameron answered a question in the commons today about backpedalling on SDSR and he said no, the SDSR was correct and the force will remain balanced and able to react to all situations..... But HIS words when SDSR was announced was that "All future conflicts are going to be against insurgent type opponents" which is how he justified reducing the numbers of aircraft and completely wiping out some capabilities like sentinel and nimrods

A post 2015 military will not be able to fight a war against another military force who have their own jets and tanks etc

Well after the last 5 months since the SDSR, the cuts the blows and now the redundencies morale has never been so low. Yet here we are a new war out of nowhere. What do you think Cameron and his cronies are going through right now while they get drunk in westminster and throw dice for the next move.

I think we are heading for serious grim times

I could have sworn we were broke :PDT_Xtremez_42:

So where will the money come to pay for this little jaunt :PDT_Xtremez_32:

Also, it can not be that serious as Kate Adie is not there :PDT_Xtremez_19:

I saw the same footage. Couldn't get over the reporter rattling on about how the aircaft have been up and punching holes in the sky today (para-phrasing), 'cos of course all they usually do is sit on the ramp all day gathering dust!! (being sarcastic BTW)

And as for Kate Adie... between her and feckin Wolf Blitzer I'm surprised we didn't get nuked at a secret airbase in Saudi in 91. I'm led to believe that it was impressed on him by a few members of our fine Air service that if he didn't stop mentioning quite so precisely where the Scuds were landing then he'd be subjected to some rather fine RAF Armourer type bar activities involving bowling balls, vaseline and his back end - minus the vaseline! Funny old thing, his news reports then starting stating that the Scuds were landing 'somewhere' in Saudi.

Even wastes of skin politicians should be able to concede that this goes to prove that we categorically need these assets if we want to get involved in conflicts like this. But....not only will they stick to the SDSR there will be more cuts later this year, coupled with a commons statement along the lines of 'it is regrettable that we have had to....we have made tough decisions...' I would bet my pension on it.

Heard on the news this AM that Dave is sending Typhoons & Tonka's out to the med & that one of Mad Gadaffi's jets was shot down by insurgents earlier..He's also said that this will be different than the gulf war..how?..When the sh1t kicks off,a war's a war & the ROE's the same no matter..

Rock on Dave...you know you make sense to someone..
