Anyone heard any more speculation/information on when it's rumoured to be? It seemed to be the generally held belief that it would be 'after the Scottish elections', but I haven't seen anything that mentions a specific date.

Is it now a straight fight between Lossie and Leuchars, and possibly one other?

I asked the AMP team the question today of when are the closures to be announced and the party line answer was they will be announced within 3 months, and the Wingco, giving the brief, said that has been the same answer for the last 2 1/2 months.

Does that mean the announcement is due in the next 2 weeks, seeing as 2 1/2 months ago, the AMP team were saying "within 3 months"?
 
Let's hope so, the linked article about Marham suggests by the 19th, which would be within the above timeframe.

"Ministers including Prime Minister David Cameron have said a decision will be announced by July 19, when Parliament goes into its summer recess"

Typical politicians - announce bad news then scuttle away for a few months so that the angst will have died down before they have to answer the questions raised by those affected.

That was asked also, but all he would say was it would be in the next 3 months!!!!!
Didn't know that AMP and his briefing teams were now politicians!!!!
 
Still waiting but decision appears to be getting closer (linky thing). The cynic in me says that they knew all along that they would announce the bad news and then immediately cut and run for their summer holidays in the hope that more bad news will follow and the impact will be lessened with the passage of time (6 weeks).

Media and local gossip around the area saying that Leuchars to be closed completely as of Sunday 17th July
 
And taken over by the Army by all accounts. I suppose the grunts do need somewhere to park all their really useful tank regiments.
 
Knackers, from the bit at the bottom of the Telegraph article it sounds like they've decided to put the Leuchars typhoons into Lossie.
 
Ok then. I know Lossie has lost a Sqn, but it appears that a fair junk of manpower has been moved to the rest of the Stn(happy to be corrected?). So is there enough accommodation & infrastructure to support the Leuchars Sqn's? Are the MQ's being kept on at Kinloss? Yet more upheaval ahead for a lot of folks. (if that turns out to be the final decision or the treasury has more to say!!)
 
IMO leuchars will go to the army (tankies) as its a central location, typhoons to lossie, fort george to isk and isk to remain as meda for lossie!!!!! mq's at ISK already have some army personnel in them!!!
 
Announcment re RAF Lyneham is due Thursday at 4pm. If you are in the Lyneham area get along to the Mallard as the press will be there for the local reaction to the news

Don't really know the area as only been there on Det so know the pubs! What ranges are near to Leuchars for Tankies to utilise? Would the local roads take the transporters? Don't know for sure but aren't Salisbury or maybe Otterburn the nearest which would make a pretty penny in movement costs. More MOD logic I suppose!!

would cost even more travelling from ISK. Better transport links from leuchars and otterburn is the nearest to Leuchars
 
Wasn't there some mention of the MOD building new ranges around Fife?
