CPL - SGT Board 2011

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
But not one of us are bitter :PDT_Xtremez_30:

I'm actually not bitter - I am just struggling to understand how I can go from getting a 'High Rec' on my assessment and don't fall into any of the catagories that would automatically set me as a 'C' grade and then end up being exactly that.

The definition of a 'C' grade is 'Not promotable at this time' which I personally don't think (and my line management definitely don't think) is the case.

To be honest, if I was that bad (or had just had a ****e year) then I could understand it - either that, or my line management have just been blowing smoke up my arse!!

Has anyone been offered promotion yet? I thought they released 30 immediately. I know a couple of people in the top 30 and no-one has had an offer yet.

Released to the PSL is not the same as an offer of promotion.

Immediate release of 30 means 30 released to PSL

My understanding is that released means you're getting promoted, being on the PSL means just that .. your on the list pending release, but once you name is 'released' your going to be promoted.

Perhaps a a good egg who may be TG 17 who happens to look at this forum from time to time will square this one away.

I never asked for a definition of what 30 immediately released meant. I wondered why no-one to my knowledge has had an offer when this time last year they were up to number 20.

A Guy who works with me was somewhere south of number 10.... (Between 10 and 15) and he has been given a date and position.

Hope this puts your mind at rest that there is something happening!

I was fortunate enough to be offered a position, however, it was at RAF Lossiemouth attached to the rocks.

Due to my Personal situation, I've been unable to accept.

Now with less than two years Service left, I have to accept that my Career is now over!

Gutted to say the least.

I'm assuming you've put your case forward regarding this post?

the cynic within me says that this stinks of "Forced" natural wastage.

BTW, my Cpl colleague has been offered our Sgts post WEF October time.

wake up?

More likely the carrot and stick. Got a crappy posting no one wants, I know we will give it to someone with only a few years left who can't turn it down...
Yet those with the right connections get to stay in location with a long gapped post becoming essential.

I feel that there may be a slight 'pause' in personnel being released while they clear up a particularly large SNAFU that has occoured with some (if not all) of the appraisals.

^^ Hmmm.. Ellaboration and expansion would help a great deal. I know of one person who is persuing their position (B Candidate) as it seemed to make NO SENSE AT ALL !

Most likely cause he's got the training and Q's to do the job.

@ Gnasher

Yes, please do elaborate!

Incidentally i find it difficult to believe people who have been in theatre during the last reporting period have failed to grade as an A, as surely theatre activity is a good thing.

oh here i go again, moaning with immense bitterness.

Still i want to know more about this particularly large SNAFU you talk about, is it a large cockup or as i read between the lines slightly colossal?

Why does going into theatre give them the right for an automatic A grade. Just because you are on deployment, doesn't mean you are actually above your peers. who are 'A' not posted to TCW or another deployable role, or 'B' not been furtunate enough to have been DWR anywhere, because it wasn't their turn to go.

No Idea what the SNAFU is, but i'm in Army world at the minute and don't get to hear anything remotely blue airforcey.

Yet again the rumour mill turns! Completing an Op deployment does not get you to be an A Grade automatically so let's put that to bed now before it spins out of control.

Not sure what the latest rumour is about promotions, but it isn't slowing up, indeed, there are only 5 people left from the initial release left to be offered promotion and 3 of them are in line to receive their offer in Sep. The other 2 will have to wait longer, but basically the desk have, as they said they would used the first release in the first 6 months of the board.

The only pause that is coming over the next release is because there are no vacancies to fill at present but no doubt that will change as personnel start volunteering for some of the overseas slots that have appeared recently and the Sgt-FS board is still active which will create moves.

Will they hit the prediction of 60, who knows, but that figure seems a lot more accurate than last years so I guess they have every chance.

Thanks for the update RAFBlue. Lets hope they do fill the quota all the way to 60.. It would be nice for whoever is the last man on the list.....

I think I know him..... Lives at my house... Married to my wife too!:PDT_Xtremez_19:
