CPL - SGT Board 2011

Just found out, still a B grade even though my assessments have improved considerably - wasn't expecting it truefully but I expected have a least been an A grade

Oh well, sod it - to the Pub !!!!!!!!!!!

8 years seniority, 5 years an A grade, now suddenly a B - despite an improvement in assessment. Disappointed? Understatement. Still, there's always Euromillions tomorrow.

I was trying not to post this year (this whole sjar process depresses me!) but having seen your post MRSG I can empathise. similar time frames, give or take, I was in the "numbers" last year to be caught up in all this NATO thing and now dropped considerably even despite going from "high" to " exceptional" ON POSTING!!!. Kind of focuses me on civvie street completely!!!
Congrats to those who did get it or will (I counted my chickens) I just hope you all live up to the opportunity you've been given.

Hot Apple pie?

Hot Apple pie?

I think promotion in McD's has more opportunity!
Got over it quicker this year. I've gone from A to B as well with 8 years seniority. Next years board leaves me with 4 months left, lol. Time to put my family first.

Last post on here

Right this is my last post on here (maybe?)
Don't want to give too much away but lets just say I would rather they just stuck hot blunt needles in my eyes and genitals, then bend me over and ram a pineapple up my backside that suffer the way I feel after making the call.....

I think I've been to that establishment as well!!! Do they still keep the same hours?!!!

God yes, Ps3's, Cars and PC's don't fix themselves you know. We've had to learn how to do things for ourselves now, its hoop.

Congrats on coming off the board though mate. One of the few people who fully deserve it.

Mate,

even though I came 3rd, I have to wait until sometime in October to get my third. I didn't know this but it turns out that as I'm staying here at my current post (as I've only been here 10 months), I have to wait till the current snco vacates his slot. A little disheartening, but at least I am being promoted.

It seems there are a lot of people who have gone from an A grade last year (or last few years) to a B grade this year.

I am among this illustrious group. Found out yesterday that my position is even lower than last years - and thats with a better assessment.

People must have really pulled their fingers out over the last reporting period. Good on them.

I am not bitter of anyone getting their third as they have obviously worked harder than me to get it, so congrats!

Out.

Could be true in most cases but what if it's because of assessment creep or your last report that read better to you didn't to the board. The variable factors are the ones that niggle me.

My FS thought he was giving me bad news telling me I'd come off as a B grade. He should know me better than that, counting the days till the almost comes off my user name.

smaller numbers

smaller numbers

The quota was only 60 this year meaning about 130 A grades?
Last year they thought they wanted 110 so would have had somewhere like 250 A grades.
Year before they only wanted 80 ish if I recall and got all the way into the 110s so moret of the A's would have got it that year.

All I can say is after today although my exit date is next year, I no longer feel part of the RAF. Didn't even get read, so my experience and knowledge is now only for me, which is a damn shame really. I fully acknowledge that I'm not a super duper ninja tech, but I'm damn good at my job.

Bitter? Yes

I'm fully aware that I've made decisions that have not been 'career enhancing' (not going back on the Wing and not being a secondary duty hoover being a couple of them), but I valued stability (hindsight is a wonderful thing!). By the time I realised that I needed to move I didn't have enough return of service left to go for the posts I wanted to be in.

Top tip... If you feel like you need to move on, don't procrastinate like I did, apply to move right now!

I've known for a few years that because of where I am and who has been writing my assessments my chances of promotion has been minimal at best, and each assessment time has been hard, but today whatever feelings I had left for the mob just died.

Happy days eh!

Just bloody typical.
Getting my final tour where I want starting in a few months time and now told I am early fifties on the board.
Looking for 60 so if they dont give me an offer of staying at my next post they can forget it and 61 could well be a happy man.

With more cuts on the way it would be brave to count your chickens as someone mentioned earlier.

Don't forget they wanted over 100 last year and only got to about 75-80.
So if people do cling on then they may not get to 50.
I know a few deserving that were in line but never got it and now droppe out of the running.

Not counting my chickens al all, just saying its bloody typical that I may now, when I'm getting settled for my final tour, be picked up. They may get to 60, they may not get passed the initial 30 but I was within the original 60 quota so I could be offered promotion then again I may not. Are we not allowed to speculate any more!
