So, according to the BBC:
  • bus workers in London have said they want a £500 payment for being on duty during the Olympics
  • Tube drivers are to receive a payment of at least £500 for working during the Olympics
  • London Overground, which manages London's suburban rail network, has agreed to pay its staff an extra 25% for working during the Olympics and Paralympics
  • The Licensed Taxi Drivers Association (LTDA) - the biggest group representing London's black-cab drivers - has suggested fares rise by about 15%.
Simply staggering...

I saw a similar list of 'copyrighted associated words' listed in the Dail Mail last week and could not believe my eyes.

Dont know what has happened in ealrier Olympic Games, but I am sure that some clown at LOCOG, or whatever the current QUANGO is called must have had a (track and) field day when they dreamed that lot up...

FFS - how can you put a brand copyright on bits of her Maj's English?

I for one would be delighted to present my gold(en) bollux in front of anyone in London this Summer, who might think that I have incorrectly awarded myself a medal for sponsoring my kids on a school trip to London to see the Olym... err better stop there, you never know who might be watching....

One of the biggest piles of SH*T ever, Stick the F*cking olympics up their hoops. It's like a police state costing us a fortune for little return regardless of the hype and ruining good TV time all summer, or am I allowed to say summer? I could understand in the UK that might be classed as false advertising.

All that nonsense about troops being ready to serve when called upon but I suspect that would apply for some things but this mess?

All pretty much sums up the UK for me.

Hmm, In shock news, G4S is now having trouble getting people they have trained to actually show up : http://news.uk.msn.com/uk/articles.aspx?cp-documentid=250595704

Who would have thought that for minimum wage, and no travel allowance, people would just not show up for work!. still, looks like there are more police covering the shortfall, for now!

Any bets on how many more servicemen will be drafted in at short notice as the games commence?

An insider from the committee organising the Olympics (Locog) has told Newsnight that they failed to deal with the problems at G4S despite warnings over the last 18 months.

I am sure I heard somebody on the radio say that not only are we providing troops to bail this shower of eejits out but we are borrowing troops off the yanks to help out also?

If true we can now only hang our heads in complete shame as it confirms our place as a 3rd rate nation with delusions of the grandeur we once had.

Somebody needs properly hanging out to dry over this. But somehow I doubt it will happen

Jimps

Its the TSA that are helping out at the Airports. Not allowed on British Aircraft unescorted and certain areas within airport

Spare a thought for drivers in London - motorists travelling along Southampton Row now face three options - and all are illegal.
They can either travel in the bus lane, the Olympic lane or on the wrong side of the road.
Obviously no driver would want to travel on the wrong side of the road. But motorists caught travelling in either a bus lane or Olympic lane during operational hours face a £130 fine....

You could not make it up....

This post is potentially the greatest post I have EVER READ ! !Genius! ! Spamout

Another example of G4S at its best............When I left the plods 2 yrs ago I registered with them and provided them with my CV with a view to seeing if there were any specialised jobs that might bring in a few bob. A few months ago I had an email from them saying they would keep me on their books but had nothing suitable for me...not that i was particularly worried ...or would have taken up the chance to be an Olympic security guard!!

But they are obviously of the belief that some spotty 19 yr old with a smattering of English is far more suitable to the role than some old bugger with 36 yrs military and police service............thank God for that!

Perhaps they felt you were over-qualified.
