If massively over original budget and a bunch of former successful runners and jumpers patting themselves on the back because they haven't spent all of the contingency funds while being paid around £380K (pre bonus) a year is to be considered as successfully overseeing a massive project - then I take your point, poor old Lord CoeDT_Xtremez_42:So far, Coe has successfully overseen a massive project. The c0ck up is surrounding the security aspect which isn't down to him. As for the general election, who would you vote for, the current banana skin steppers or the shambolic Liabour crowd?
They need to get their collective fingers out soon, people will need training and qualifying on:
• X-ray machines for checking hand baggage taken into the stadia.
• Walk through metal detectors.
• Hand held metal detectors.
• Rub down body searches.
Just recently I have been involved in some x-ray stuff showing IEDs, IIDs and component parts of those devices. Even when you know what is in the bag/box they can be very difficult to spot, it isn't going to be an 8 hour classroom course, lots of hours interpreting images are required to become competent!
Myself, I wouldn't do it for a gold pig. The Olympics is too big not to be a target.
I read an article yesterday stating the G4S are providing between 10 and 16 thousand security staff for the Olympics and Para Olympics.
That is the same G4S company that has released several convicted prisoners at court because they didn't follow procedures properly and more recently put a >> 'Tag' on a man's false leg! <<
Hope everyone is feeling a lot safer now that the world's best are involved.
Every?Every civilian is getting paid extra for working the olympics like Train staff, Bus Drivers etc
Was listening to a report on BFBS radio last night and a 'Colonel' was being interviewed and he was possibly the most infuriating individuals I have ever heard, he pointed out that the extra troops would be in tents or in community center halls, schools halls etc and they would be very happy with this luxury accomodation becuase it is far better than what they get in Afghanistan. Well apart from the most austere FOB's and PB's accomodation in Afghan isnt too bad and at least whilst you are there you are earning leave not getting it taken off you. Whats the betting that despite all the 'reassurances' from the govt and top brass, Pte Smith will never get chance to retake his leave as his unit was on block leave prior to the next exercise/training/deployment and come end of March their CO declines all request to carry extra days over!
Oh and while we are at it what happens if Syria kicks off in a couple of weeks, do we take all our troops back!!!
Just a farce on a biblical scale but then again we have all come to expect it from our lords and masters!
When did RAF aircraft get fitted with weapons that can fire lasers at other aircraft?

Patrick Mercer MP calls for bonuses for the military inconvenienced by G4S incompetence, paid for by G4S.
....don't hold your breath, I fully expect this to be more lip service flannel but would love to be proven wrong.
Prolly a free G4S baseball cap and polo shirtDT_Xtremez_42:Bonuses that will be taxed no doubt *rolls eyes*
