I can't believe the negativity here.

Come on now, repeat Daves mantra as you pick up your redundancy notice.. "Public funded bad, private sector, good."

Now where's that P45?

It'd be nice to think that G4S would be barred from bidding in future but they won't

If they lose £50m for not supplying 4000 guards then that's around £12,500 each guard, at most they were going to pay a couple of grand to the guard, probably pay £500 each for recruitment, £200 for uniform, at most £1,000 for training and SIA licences and registration and no more than £100 for admin. If they'd offered say £3k per guard with a £2k attendance bonus they still would have made a tidy profit but would have probably met their obligations.

I think the press need to let this go now and focus on the games which will be a success and everyone will get their bonuses and plenty of back slapping, and life will slowly return to normal, apart from the stories about how the Olympics Legacy is as promised as most arenas will closed down by Christmas or ruined in this August's riots.

Probably pop to the Olympic park for a look see as I'm in London to see a show and sights on the 5th, I've got an old friend and face tube buddy who works for G4S at the games so if he's turned up for work he might let me in by the back door.

Totally disagree, if the press let it go it will be swept under the carpet and nothing will get done.

Maybe this shambles will make civil servants and MPs start thinking about contracts that they hand out and accept responsibility for the small print that stitches up the taxpayer.

You can get angry and annoyed, bitch and moan as much as you like but nothing will change, Jez Hunt is already a dead man walking after the NOTW affair so will be the fall guy. The games will go ahead, everyone will enjoy themselves, there will be the odd hiccup and the 3500 guys and gals who have been shafted will be forgotten about pretty quickly there after.

Unless there is a major incident no one will care and people will get angry about the next big thing the press decide to moan about, probably a heat wave, never been so hot since 1999, and a return of the hosepipe ban.

Tis the way of the world get over it.

Now I realise why this country is in such a state - people accept crap.

Yeah, I agree with this busby. Watching the MPs grilling of Mr Buckle, head of G4S today I couldn't help but ask, 'whats the point of this'? A show trial? Putting the guy on the spot, exercising the powers of the committee to make him look like a cnut just because they can? Sure, the Daily Mail and its readers will be happy (although the DM will be stuck with the dichotmoy of having to slag off a private sector company but hey ho) just as folks in medieval times crowded around the criminal in the stocks to chuck rotten fruit at them. To what end? Whats done is now done, the only way it can be 'fixed' is to ensure G4S don't receive any blue-ribband government contracts in future until the company and its shareholders decide to replace the incompetents who screwed this one up.

Just maybe the lads and lasses could be in for a bonus...................

"Mr Buckles promised the firm would pay all police and military costs caused by G4S' failure, would cover any accommodation expenses and would even consider paying bonuses to individual officers and troops if considered appropriate."

I wouldn't hold my breath If I were you.

IF....this is the case, how much would they pay for living in a tent or an abandoned shopping centre?

I hardly think it will hurt their pocket.

I thought there was another thread for PAYD.

That wont happen. Do you really believe that the government willl give the bonus received from G4S to the 3500 extra troops and not to the other 12500 that were already involved in olympics? The money will be either never taken from G4s or sucked up into the system. The lads/lasses wont see a penny.

With more coppers being called upon now, I refer you to my earlier post. And that was based on our Fresco escorts bragging about how much overtime they were on then and that was 10 years ago!

now that is a disgrace, yep if you were on ops you could accept it,bet PC Plod is not roughing it like that!
in fact maybe the "forces" paper could start a "adopt a serviceman" and london familys could take one in as a guest for the duration.

Military Coup

Military Coup

Its about time us Brits had a Military Coup. Think about it the whole Military that are not on Ops are now in London. It wouldnt take much to sort out the logistics are already in place. We could replace our complete, Lying bunch of baffoons and have a Military runstate. Within days we could shore up our Borders and stop the illegals coming in. The Euro crap from Brussels can be ripped up and posted back and we could start turning our once great country into becoming Great Britain again. Well just a thought. ACoup A military coup (d'etat) is an organized action by the armed forces of a country meant to overthrow and replace its government. It can be successful (the former government is replaced by a new one controlled by the military) or not (the government stays in power), it can be temporary (the military relinquishes power quickly) or permanent (the military remains in control for lengthy periods of time), bloody or bloodless. It is different from a revolution, since a coup is a top-down action, controlled and generated from an existing structure of the state against another, rather than a bottom-up action of rebellion against the whole government coming from non-governament actors (as in the case of a revolution), as is different from a civil war (where two factions, typically a governmental and non-governmental actor fight for power in a bloody war for lengthy periods), since a coup can be both non-bloody and short in duration (such as the successful Thai coup of 2006).Off to build some Gallows now........(That should get me off the Olympics)lol

Depending on how well read this website is, I predict some "external intervention" on the right to publish what might be considered a slur on the whole wancfest that is the Olympics.

Lord Snooty and his mates won't like this at all; oh no.

This pic from inside the accomodation hangar was facetubed to me earlier....
My first thought on seeing that picture is that it looks a step-up from the accommodation we used to get at Earl's Court for the Royal Tournament every year, so good work by whoever had to source the additional bedspaces at no-notice. On the other hand, I expect Wormwood Scrubs has better facilities...

Bl**dy good idea - would get my vote (if you can indeed vote for a military coup)...

A military government could:
  • Empower the police, so if you go around beating up elderly women or molesting children, you go to prison for a long time. If you murder someone, then once its proved beyond reasonable doubt then your life is taken away.
  • Scrap benefits for anyone proven to be a dole-scrounger
  • Stop cutting the Armed Forces and buy some decent, off the shelf kit that works.
  • Pull out of the Human Rights Charter - and replace it with a Common Sense Charter.
  • Tell G4S that the amount they will be paid will be determined by the number of workers who actually pitch up for the Olympics - oh, and the cost of dealing with any security issues where its proven G4S are at fault will also come out of their pocket
  • Eliminate by firing squad anyone who "cold calls" offering to get you money back on PPI
  • Eliminate by firing squad anyone who works for "Injury Lawyers 4U"
  • Bring back a two tier system of education so that those who are gifted have a chance to fly high
.....deep breaths....
