A woman who got a new tattoo to celebrate her role in the Olympic torch relay was shocked to discover it had been spelt incorrectly. Jerri Peterson, from Atlanta in the US, carried the torch through Derby on 30 June after being nominated by the hotel chain she worked for.

When she arrived back in the US, she decided to spend $10 (£6.50) on a tattoo to mark the occasion. It was only hours later she spotted it featured the mis-spelling "Oylmpic".

Mrs Peterson was one of 70 international employees selected by her firm to take part in the relay as a thank you for her years of charity work. She said: "I always wanted to have a tattoo but I never quite felt passionate about any one thing to have it put on my body permanently.

At least she'll remember it. :PDT_Xtremez_31:

What did she expect for this price? - Einstien oops! :PDT_Xtremez_30:

Nice to see that G4S staff are alert and on the ball......................

"A guard for beleaguered Olympics security firm G4S was sacked after he was found SLEEPING on the job. The worker was spotted slumped in a staff entrance of the plush Worsley Marriott Hotel in Salford – which will host football teams including Team GB. He was swiftly hauled before bosses who described his behaviour as ‘unacceptable’. The worker was then sacked on the spot and escorted off the premises. A spokesman for G4S said: "The guard was found asleep in the staff entrance. "He was told that this was a very serious matter and that security could have been compromised. He was dismissed and led away."

I don't think I'd trust this company to collect trolleys at t*sco.

I am not being funny, but G4s's target market for the Olympic workforce was people who will work for close to minimum wage and who already live in the area required so won't need accommodation or transport (because they certainly are not paying for it)

When you then get Kevin or Abdul off the local estate and give him a couple of hours training and a uniform, is it any surprise they will fall asleep when unsupervised on a night shift stint?

If you want professional, motivated people, you need to invest in them. Recruiting a temporary workforce at the last minute and paying them as little as you can get away with means you will get employees who don't care for you or your company and have little work ethic.

I would have though this was obvious, but then looking at a major company who is able to procure multi million pound contacts without seeming to grasp basics, maybe not.

I think this part pretty much sums up the UK Armed forces these days too unfortunately.

For your aural pleasure I give you the G4S company song. I do no know what the tune is as a little bit of vom cam up in my mouth after the first line.

You love your job and the people too
Making a difference is what you do
But consider all you have at stake
The time is now don't make a mistake
Because the enemy prowls, wanting to attack
But we're on the wall, we've got your back
So get out front and take the lead
And be the winner you were born to be
G4S! protecting the world
G4S! so dreams can unfurl

24/7 every night and day
A warrior stands ready so don't be afraid
G4S! secure in your world
G4S! let your dreams unfurl

We're guarding you with all our might
Keeping watch throughout the night

Makes you proud to be British, eh?

Really? one thing I would say about members of the Armed Forces is that no matter how hard they get kicked, how far through the dirt they get dragged and how much they get taken for mugs and abused, they still try to do the right thing, make the best of a bad lot and try to get a job done professionally. That of course is because they have pride in themselves and what they are required to do.

Weebl has hit the nail square on the head, we were saying the same thing only the other day. G4S are trying to recruit from the most useless, demotivated, lacking in personal, work and life skills element of society to do arguably the single most important security related task in the country over the next month.Nobody seems to be able to say it, nobody seems to have the gumption or balls to point out that amonsgt the people they were going to end up attracting for the wages they were willing to pay were were going to turn out to be a fair number of the most unreliable, pitiful examples of humanity
this country has to offer.

Can't say I've noticed Chip!::P:

I'm afraid the G4S is what you get when you try to get maximum profit for minimum wage. The dumbing down started under labour and continues at speed with the current crop.

Forced on us by the people who know the price of everything and the value of nothing.

I'll be there tomorrow night to see just what the debacle is like. Should be an interesting 2 night shifts.

You're talking about RAFP aren't you...

Fcuking civvy filth, moan fcuking moan fcuking moan!

Did they (The Met) not recently complain about being away from their families whilst escorting the Olympic Flame around the country for several weeks whilst earning more, staying in hotels and losing weight (which to be honest, some need) at the same time.

I'd love that gig!

Add these to the mix and we are really starting to look as a nation sitting inside the biggest goldfish bowl at the moment as quite a bunch of cnuts:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-18912742

Thousands of Home Office staff will strike the day before the Olympics open, the Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union has said. The action will involve staff across the Home Office, including the UK Border Agency, the Identity and Passport Service and Criminal Records Bureau.

and this:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-18899474

Strikes by drivers at East Midlands Trains have been planned for three days during the London 2012 Olympics in a row over pensions.

Members of the train drivers' union Aslef have scheduled industrial action for 6, 7, and 8 August.

I'd say that the reason people getting dicked for this will 'get on with it' is because they'll either end up getting charged for telling those who give the orders to do one, or getting put in Colchester for going AWOL, either way ruining their career.

What pride is there to be had in standing there guarding something, with no weapon or any real authority, for the sole purpose of being the face of the RAF, yet being shafted from behind by those who run said air force?
