Don't mind getting an old pay rise. The percentage rise we got in 79, or previously in 74 as I seem to recall would do nicely. I'll let the young goaters research exactly what each amounted to, the old sweats should still remember.:PDT_Xtremez_28:

I know there is like 40 odd pages on this thread but it really irks me when people dont read or think for that matter before posting. This IS the gen as we know it today:

JPA is showing a pre loaded basic pay rate of 2.8% more for april than is currently on there for march. That is your basic rate of pay not including x factor, which is 14% of whatever you get paid as you basic rate. It is not anticipated that x factor is rising this year. They could easily reprogram this rate of pay to another (lower) one but it is very likely that that is what we are getting and it is just the politicians dragging the feet announcing it for some reason.

So for example:
You used to be paid 100, with 14% x factor you get a gross pay of 114.

Your basic pay (100) is increased by 2.8% so now your basic pay is 102.8. Add to that your 14% x factor which puts your gross total at 117.19

Your total increase from this pay rise is therefore 3.19

Which funny old thing equates to a pay rise in your gross pay of errr 2.8%

Too young for the 74 but the 79 was 35% if memory serves right.:PDT_Xtremez_28:

Thanks for that Sgt Scribbly.

Arrrrrr those were the days, i was at a station in Suffolk renowened for buccs, (1974) when the Press got hold of how badley paid we were! the station went "D" State for a few weeks all because some brave "wifey" had the apparent nerve to stand up and be counted. But I must confess as a KOS I really cannot remember the % we got as a pay rise. Those were the days with pay supp 1 & 2............................ Im getting sleepy now, time for my pill........................Nurse

Which is what I said a few pages ago before when all you HR 'experts' were saying 2.8%.

Does that include compounded increase in X factor at 14% ? If not it would equate to a total rise of 3.19 %

Sospan you're slightly off with your maths I think. Its only 2.8% whichever way you look at it. 3.19 was the amount of the rise in unitary terms and not a %

Previous gross pay was 114 (100+14%), new gross pay is 117.19 (102.8+14%) which is a rise of 3.19 (units) but still only an actual rise of 2.8% (3.19/114*100)

I stand corrected SS, my maths was wrong.

Good job our fuel discrepancy limit is within 6% :PDT_Xtremez_14:

Excellent explanation SgtScribbly, it makes perfect sense and adds up too.

I am still a little confused on the wider picture though. If we are saying that the pay rise has already (effectively) been given via the medium of JPA then why all the secrecy from the government over its release?

2.8% sounds good but as I am not too familiar with JPA I wouldn't know where to look for Aprils pay rate. The furthest I have ventured is my pay chit about 7days before we get paid.

With rumours of 2.8% being applied would everyone be happy with that as a payrise

Yes I will be happy with 2.8%.

In years gone by, maybe I'd be a bit p!ssed off about it but the world is in serious financial sh!t and folk are losing their jobs by the thousands.

At the moment, being in HM Forces is a pretty secure job with little chance of me losing my job for the next 8 years.

I for one would happily forgo a pay rise this year if it meant my sacrifice directly helped a former woolworths employee to continue to receive their monthly pension that they paid into for the last 40 years.

Yes 2.8% would be nice, however, the rules by which the payrise should be assessed should give a rise around the 5% region - CPI/RPI, affectively the rises in the cost of living.

Anyway until I see it in black and white I trust no-one, especially an over-paid adminer!

The DIN detailing food and accomodation charges is out. Can't remember exact section, it's 2009 section 8 on Intranet DIN page. It summarises 5.6% food increase and 3.9% accomodation at the start. I didn't really have time to read it fully yesterday though.
