Pay Rise 2009

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
Does it fcuking matter when it is announced??? Are you getting the money before Apr 1st? Longer they delay it the more we get your fcuking bleating.
Eh ....... yes it does matter. The Police, NHS, Fire to name a few already have their pay rises made public. Why should we be treated any differently.

If you don't want to listen to people having a discussion or moaning then why look as the the thread? That would save you blood pressure rising.

Going for an overall 3.2% rise, but an OTT rise in rent and food etc to counteract the rise.

Im keeping my angry comments till it is announced :PDT_Xtremez_28:

As somebody pointed out the PM has gone to meet Obama so can forget it being announced till he gets back , saying that would not surprise me if he was not there to explain why the forces have received the smallest pay rise in history :)

May be he is asking for a loan ......

Either way Salty says it well longer its left then probably thats a saving grace , i t may mean the diffrence of a few more quid a month

3.9%, doubtful. Would be higher than the last few years. Not sure about the others above but the police are on a 3 year pay deal? Certainly the Prison Service and SSRB are waiting on 'dead man walking' Brown to make his announcement.

What would you be happy with ?

I will be disappointed if we get anything less than 3% and some reference to pay restructuring.

Would this pay restructuring include a new Higher Pay Band for the poor, unfortunate Tg1? Or should I just stfu and wind my neck in? :PDT_Xtremez_42::PDT_Xtremez_42::PDT_Xtremez_06:

It would be nice if they even just released the AFPRB report, considering the government have had it for "some weeks"....

cancel the comment i made about the PM being in the states, as im sure it normally comes from the defense secretary, am i right?

how do you know the government has the report already?

How can the government ammend an idependant report...

Ha, ha, ha, ha!

Don't tell me you actually believed they were "independent"

"In reaching its recommendations, the Review Body is to have regard to the following considerations:

the need to recruit, retain and motivate suitably able and qualified people taking account of the particular circumstances of Service life;
Government policies for improving public services, including the requirement on the Ministry of Defence to meet the output targets for the delivery of departmental services;
the funds available to the Ministry of Defence as set out in the Government' s departmental expenditure limits; and
the Government' s inflation target"

From here: http://www.ome.uk.com/review.cfm?body=3

They don't just go out and independently assess service pay, that would be far too risky. They review armed forces pay and then adapt their recommendations to suit the prevailing economic conditions and not embarress their employers, as per their terms of reference. This way the government....... oops I mean AFPRB recomendations are more likely to be accepted in full et voila, everyone is happy and everyone appears to be working together.

The AFPRB submit their report to the Government, the government aren't obliged to accept it and can reject all or part of it. Yes the AFPRB have to be realistic and submit what they think will get accepted but normally the government do accept the AFPRB recommendations in toto (no not the band).
