Redundancies

^ That would seriously distract me from being able to get any work done. At all. I'd probably be pretty crap company too while I was waiting to hear news of far more important things (to me) than the routine day to day.

Since I know I'll be of no use whatsoever on the 1st Sep, or for a day or two before, I've put in leave - so at least work knows not to expect anything from me.

I know what you`re saying, but i`ll put this to you, events will show that your employer thinks very little of you, whether you be in service or private industry, whereas your family will be there for life (touch wood). If the company are going to make you `pretty bad company`, take it out on the establishment and not your nearest and dearest.

All the best to everybody on this thread. The world must be a really safe place now that theres whole chunks expendable. :PDT_Xtremez_42:

Out where I am, on ops but not getting op bonus, we have been told the det commander or an underling will give the good/bad news. Now could an adminer please just clarify a little point for me, if I get the chop does my notice start from 1st Sept or when I get back? If it's from the 1st Sept I may well just leave my kit here and civ air back to blighty. A fair commitment return methinks.

Starts from when you get back to base and have finished your post op leave

Question for those in the shiny world involved in administering the "good news"....

I saw the posts about the letter/packups having been collected by Chief Clerks and taken to the station. How do those letters then get to the subject? Is it delivered to the OC who calls them in to their office?

What about people who are on leave on 1st Sep - does anyone *know* what arrangements are in place to ensure they find out?

In the main it was units OC PMS who picked up the pack ups as many chf clks were in the frame for redundancy.

Units by now should have identified those that are on leave on 1 Sep and spoken to this individuals to ascertain how they wish to be informed.

Is that true? The way i read it was 1 Sep 12 everyone selected leaves no matter what the situation.
The way it was worded though was (although guessing the dates)

1st Jan 2012 - All applicants leave the RAF
1st Sept 2012 - All non-applicants leave the RAF

Everyone is sacked.

You are right, sort of. I haven't yet seen the DIN on appeals although it should be on the streets very soon, but if it goes like previous redundancy rounds, people will be able to appeal against being made redundant at all or appeal to change the exit date, left or right depending. Again, I'm guessing, but I would suggest that redundees who are on deployment on 1 Sep 11 will find it quite easy to move their exit dates to ensure they have 6 months back in the UK to resettle.

Notice to all ATM sneks out there: If any of you get made redundant and does not want to go, I WILL swap with you.

There is clear direction from HQ Air on how personnel should be told; but I suspect Units will still do their own thing. It does support phoning personnel who may be on leave. Clearly, if they're a compulsory, and on leave, then it's a tough decision. Do you call them to tell them the bad news or call them and ask them to come into work? which would just give the game away anyway!

Additionally, if chosen for redundancy, and you're OOA but not getting the OA, your exit date will still be 1 Mar/1 Sep 12.

Apparently not at Odiham. Not having much luck getting hold of PSF to be pro-active about how they contact me...

Unless it's the Falklands that's just asking for trouble with people booking civ-air home.

As I thought there seems to be no where near the applicants as last time. Lots of unhappy people on the 1st.

I read in our SRO's today that all those eligible would be contacted by someone dealing with it by the 15th and to go through the chain of command if they hadn't heard. I haven't heard and my chain of command is mostly on leave................ Not that it will influence the end result so I can wait.

How are units allowed to vary from 'clear direction'?:0

Can't argue with the first point!

As for the "bad company" bit - if I was wandering around at work I'd be thinking about redundancy, if I'm at home I'll be tinkering with motorbikes instead :)
