Redundancies

There is clear direction from HQ Air on how personnel should be told; but I suspect Units will still do their own thing./QUOTE]

But if there is clear guidance, then that would suggest that it's not open to interpretation... No?

As the details are on units already, what's the betting on some info being leaked before 1 Sep??

OC PMSs picked up the lists and envelopes from HQ AIR yesterday but if the info leaks out the proverbial will hit the fan in a big way. That much in the direction from HQ AIR is very clear.

HQ AIR has given direction on how redundees should be informed but there is scope within that for unit cdrs to decide how best to do so based on local circumstances, e.g., number and location of redundees. That kind of detail cannot be dictated because it will be different in some way for every unit.

Thanks TBJ. As you know, whilst direction from HQ Air is very clear, it would be impossible, as you say, to cover every scenario, hence Units will still have to do their own thing.

Sorry if my earlier post was a bit confusing :PDT_Xtremez_42:

To me, thats a bit early and makes the chances of keeping it quiet harder. The lists & envelopes (in a sealed envelope) should have been kept at HQ AIR until a couple of days before D Day.

Thats all well and good until you realise that many of the letters may have to go to some of the more dispersed locations and getting them there in a couple of days isn't realistic even in Europe!

If a representative at OC PMS level has had to collect them, what difference does it make?

Or are you saying they stuck them in the post to overseas locations?

There are 2 isues; the T&S to get personnel back to the UK to collect them and the more remote locations that don't have OC PMS's or even Admin staff. It's all well and good getting them to the parent unit but then the PU has to get them forward to these other locations.

They did stick them in the post....they have been received, accounted for and where/when possible have been distributed to CO's/OC's or individuals have been asked to provide contact details as to where and how they are to be contacted on the 1st.

Just as an aside, I will be on leave and aim to be sat either on a beach or next to a pool with plenty of booze to either celebrate or commiserate...good luck to all and hope you get what you wish for!!!

MWD, one of the things we now need to do is double check that the RFP haven't included any individuals who are subsequently pinged for an OOA to Afghan, etc. Hence the reason we got the letters last Thu.

I can understand your thinking... God only knows those of us in the bracket have waited long enough!

However, I have a friend (OK, old work colleague) who works at an AFCO. His parent unit is Cranwell. He is certainly a good few hours travel from his 'Parent Unit'.

Can you imagine the fannying around it takes to make sure that each candidate gets the info, from the right person on the right day.

This will also be why HQ Air have given direct instruction to units... but they'll have an element of 'flex' in how they do the deed.

The way it was worded though was (although guessing the dates)

1st Jan 2012 - All applicants leave the RAF
1st Sept 2012 - All non-applicants leave the RAF

Everyone is sacked.

This info is incorrect.

29 Feb 2012-All Applicants leave.

31 Aug 2012-All NON-Applicants leave.

Think about it, if the envelopes were to remain at Air until a couple of days before how would they be guaranteed to reach people on time, bearing in mind that the Royal Mail is NOT being utilised !!!

INCORRECT, they did NOT use Royal Mail

Scaned copies could have been sent out a couple of day before hand electronically, and forwarded as required to the right location if people are here or there.

Good Luck to all those who want it and commisserations to the rest, should have tried harder.

Nothing can be sent out electronically, don't you remember the almighty F***up by the Army and their emails to people, this is the reason why

I didn't mean directly to the individuals, but in batches to OC PMS or whoever can be trusted to put them into envelopes locally.

quite a simple process these days, even with the use of DII

Sent from my View pad apologies for the spelling

Central collection facilitated briefings, Q&A, and the opportunity for cross-unit discussions about the hows, whys and wherefores in a sanitised environment. Even DII could not have done that.

I can't believe the RAF have not done it in a more professional way...and took a leaf out of the X Factor:

Put the 2 groups on the stage and tell 'em.....I mean we woulda got Cowell in for this part...:PDT_Xtremez_14:

Still no idea what the plans are at ISK for letting everyone know. Hopefully we'll get some info in the next week, we seem to get told everything else thats going on.
I'm just sick of all the waiting, if they know, why can't they just tell you!
