Redundancies

Just had my wobbly on the phone to check my home number was correct in case he needs to call me next week as I'm on nights.

Thats me just a little on edge :PDT_Xtremez_42:

Don't panic, he will need to inform you one way or the other so he will need your contact details to give you the good or bad news - don't read anything into it!

If selected for Redundancy both Applicants and Non-Applicants will be informed via their hierarchy with their letter and pack-up. Unsuccessfull Aplicants will be informed by personal letter to their confidential address that they put on the Application from the RFP.
As I understand it, whether an applicant or non-applicant, if individuals are in the bracket, the RFC have to inform of selection/non-selection etc.

If he has applied and is unsuccessful, his chain of command will never know he applied unless he tells them. I suspect in this case the wobbly has been given the list of those in the frame and he has taken it upon himself to verify contact information. Definitely a prudent move, even if executed a little clumsily.

Only one wobbly orange on each unit should know the list of those being made redundant at this stage. Should.

Of all the RAF were I work there are only 2 in the redundancy field, me who applied for it & a FS who did not, but would be quite happy to get it.

Our boss, RN Captain, had to go and see some people upstairs today to go through what his responsibilities will be on the 1st Sep.

Which as far as me & my mate are concerned can only be good news for one or both of us. As from what I can see there is no need for an interview if you aren’t getting made redundant. Champers on ice, but cork not quite popped yet.

I saw an email sent to my DE&S boss last week telling him he may have to be here on Sep 1st! As I'm the only one in the frame for redundancy I'll know what to expect should he pay a "surprise" visit next week!

It is just a case of the wobbly being pro-active and contacting everyone within the frame to make sure he can get in touch IF the need arrives.

He had no idea if I had applied or not and I have no problem with him taking this action, it shows that at least one person in my chain of command is wanting to make sure everyone is kept in the loop.

It was just a little disconcerting to get the phone call at 9:30 at night.......and I shouldn't have said I was on edge, just let down he wasn't asking for my bank details to deposit a large cheque and details of where to leave my uniform :PDT_Xtremez_30:

I applied for redundancy under in1993. Was in the process of closing down RAF gut, knew I'd got it weeks before the official announcement when my post to holding flight at pmc innsworth came through. Still had to go to laarbeuch on the day if the announcements though.

Dont worry matey you're the sort of upstaning character the RAF wants to keep. Plus there is only 25 in your field, me being one of them, we could always swap if you get it an i dont.

Just heard an interesting one from a mate OOA. Brackets or fields were opened for those wanting to jump, However, All heavy Cpls (or whatever trade) are eligible to get the news on Sep 1..

Apologies, i was lead to understand if you are not in the bracket (time served etc) then you wont get made redundant, just been told that the bracket was just for eligibility to volunteer.

i.e most could still get made redundant?

Chap, your mate was either misinformed or talking out of his hoop.

Bluetonic - your original understanding was correct.

It’s a strange atmosphere at work this week. Those not in the bracket are a bit like rubber neckers at car crash they are interested to see what happens but don’t want to be caught up in the mess. Others are like kids at Christmas they have sent the wish list off to Santa and will be gutted if Santa doesn’t bring what they want. They of course are hoping beyond hope that the right presents arrive as they have been good lately and Santa always delivers. Others are living in dread of “that” chat, they want to stay and have no wish to go elsewhere (this outlook surprises those who have applied). The non volunteers who may get picked up are like the French nobility waiting on the block and hoping none of the knitting ladies drop a stitch. Next week will not be a nice time for many I feel, Santa will disappoint some who have asked and some who haven’t asked for anything at all will be given a gift they neither want or need.

Well put TB

mm? not many places in the RAF have so many "in scope" people than the corridor of learning!!!

fingers crossed allround!!!

good luck all!!!

Hmmm, I wonder if I'll get picked up? Not wanted however if given I may well do some digging and appeal. Will I be made to complete my OOA as I really won't give a rats arse about my job back home or here if that's the case. Loyalty will be shown where deserved or earnt, however if the raf say bye then they can get to fcuk. I'll be on the first plane home, fcuk the lsa, it'll do me no good as a civy.
