A pointless comment that adds no worth. I was simply trying to explain a scenario.

And adding a change in the eligibility once the DIN has been published adds what to the process.

And why should the RAF let more of the young and keen volunteer when it reserves the right to get rid of some old and bold deadwood.

20 cpls to go in my trade any squippers out there know how many within the trade are eligble ? personally speaking I do not want to leave !

When the dust has settled and the Bean Counters have the number of beans that they want left, they will be happy........................

What's that, another crisis in the world which needs UK involvment and they ask the UK military to go and help out :PDT_Xtremez_42:

The answer should be "With what?" :PDT_Xtremez_42:

Time will tell but we have been here before :S

At what point did I say the DIN should be changed? Perhaps future tranches would be nice.

Why not? Then the board can decide. It is possible that it may pick someone with >LOS 21 when there is a more suitable candidate <LOS 21. Moreover, the >LOS 21 candidate could be compulsory whereas there could be a volunteer with < LOS 21. Regardless of who volunteers, the RAF still has the right to get rid of whomever it so desires, including the "old and bold deadwood"

Would you rather work with someone who wanted to be there or someone who didn't want to be there. Surely someone who volunteers, no matter how good they are as decided they don't want to be on the RAF. Would you keep him in against his desire to get out.

Not sure I get what you mean? You seem to be aggreeing with me yet questioning me at the same time? Have you read my previous posts?

Yeah, makes for a rather nervous summer!!

FS Caterers are in a worse position though 1 in 2.

There aren't any Logs(Caterers) on the list at any rank - did you mean Logs(Chefs) or do you know something that we don't?

The DIN is now in the public domain as it has been publisihed on the RAF Famililies Federation Website: Linky to the DIN. So we can now qoute directly without breaking the Forum's rules on publishing things of the intranet.

I'm not so sure about that. Had I been in the bracket last time around I would have applied, not because I wanted to leave but because the pay off was tempting. Even now, although much reduced from before, the offer is too good to refuse for many.

I was very surprised by how narrow the fields are but I think we have to ensure that once we get to the other side of this, the people we have left are the ones that we want and need to have.

Not everyone that volunteers for redundancy dislikes being in the RAF. There could be family/personal reasons or the extra cash could present the opportunity of persuing a different career whilst still being young enough to do so. We all have to leave sometime whether we like it or not so for some, the 'sweetner' just brings the exit date a little further forward.

Those that really dislike the RAF or for any other reason are desperate to leave will PVR anyway - so why pay them to do so?

I am!! What an interesting few hours that was, off the bus, on the bus. Left hand not knowing what the right hand was doing. And after all that I didn't even meet the criteria!!
Thank heavens you are still alive. For a minute I thought you'd cashed in your bet. I meet the criteria but I haven't decided whether to go for it or not.
