Redundancy

Why set the LOS at 21 years then? Open it up to all SNCO's so that the board can pick the most suitable.

Because, believe it or not, a fair few SNCOs are still of the "Proud to Serve/Take it up the chuffer for the cause" ilk! By opening it up to everyone, you could end up compulsarily selecting those who look unsuitable on paper because they are newly promoted and lack the competencies of their more senior peers, yet will be the future FS/WOs because no matter what sh!t comes their way, they lap it up - in essence, exactly the kind of person the RAF wants to keep!!

Totally agree,im an AV SNCO, 16 years experience,on LOS 30 and am proud to serve, personally im glad there not looking to oust my rank & trade, i want to stay in to do the job i sigend up to do, but i do agree that it does seem a little unfair as i know plenty of fellow SNEC's both AV and Mech that want out- for me i will finish my 30 years service

Ok, fair point, what about voluntary any LOS, compulsory LOS 21 to 27? So anyone can volunteer, but if the RAF chooses you as a compulsory it will only look at LOS 21 to 27.

I've worked hard and got promoted quickly, but what I won't do is "lap it up", been messed around too many times and it's the good guys that will jump ship!

So how many will jump ship because they aren't in the frame (or not selected) and won't lap it up anymore? IMO, could be a substantial number which will just reduce tranches 2 & 3.

Well, that's my application in.

Hopefully common sense will prevail:

My trade is 112% overmanned at my rank, I'm posted to a sqn which presumably will be absorbing the guys from the 2 GR4 units that are going, I've been out of trade for the last 3 years and have been off-aircraft for the last 4. No Q's on any of the platforms we have left.

Perfect candidate for redundancy?

Knowing my luck, NO!

Can but hope though

Don't think you'll see anyone jump before the whole thing is done, i.e post tranche 2 & 3. Looking at SNCO's, those that have done 22+ will be straight out of the door, I know I will, even though I'm signed on for LOS 30. So the books will be balanced based on numbers required post SDSR, this will then go out of kilter as those SNCO's not selected or eligible will bang out leaving a void.

Here's one that did!:PDT_Xtremez_19:

According to ACOS Manning, they had a PVR spike before redundancy programme started - presumably people who wanted to hit the job market early before the flood starts! I don't doubt they are expecting a few more in coming days too!

There are no voluntary redundancies, just people who volunteer to go on compulsory terms, semantics I know but there it is, again.

And volunteering this time just means you are out in 6 months not 12.

If they want (and they say they will) they will chose who's going regardless of whether they volunteer or not!

Just out of curiosity is the terms of compulsary (and non-compulsary) redundancy that you have served a certain amount of years?

Read the DIN, it's all in there!

Surprised there are no TG4 (comms) redundancies... What is going to happen to TCW when we leave Afghan?

Meant to be going halton in may or july. I heard they said the reductions will take place over 5 years or so and i know its an indredibly pesimistic way to look at things... but i have seen similar descions on civvy street before!
