Rachel Theives is a good one too, I’m sure Yevette’s picked a good one up as well.

Back on topic there appears to be a lot of talk about jailing people for comments, apparently telling a falsehood isnt a crime.

Telling a faslehood not a crime you say, well our politicians, of whatever hue, will be delighted to hear that. The lot of them have been telling porkies for generations

Telling your loutish mates to go and attack a property. A little different. Actually massively different. Would you instruct you trainees to break the law?

There is also much back slapping about the speed with which the police have raided, arrested, charged and had banged up the rioters. I am curious about the speed with which the police have identified the masked men and been able to find them - were they already known to the police; i.e. existing criminals taking advantage of a 'cause' for a bit of a punch up or something different? Are the massed ranks of lawyers and barristers, who are supposed to act without prejudice, queueing up to raise interminable points of law and demand incontrovertible proof that their client actually did throw that stone? And did so with malicious intent?
Will Keir Starmer now accept that the police and justice system can act swiftly and ensure that the same swift response is delivered to those who are illegal immigrants (and I would differentiate between illegal economic migrants and genuine refugees from oppression)?

There is no excuse for rioting in the streets but, equally, there is no excuse for not dealing with some of the causes of the grievances that lead people to the streets.
Tories had loads of years to sort it. Your and my pensions need tax payers to pay it. I am repaying mine with large amounts of 40% tax. Did you?

Those grievances were planted by years of MSM demonising immigrants, and from right wing politicians, mostly Reform, UKIP and the tories, going on and on and on about how immigration was the root of all evil, and how they would stop it, and how they'd even break international law to, in some twisted way, maintain the law.
When people are being spoon fed such populist crap, for absolutely years, it's no wonder they'll eventually take to the streets when their perceived utopia isn't happening.
Thankfully, the causes of planting their grievances have been removed from government, and now that we've got grown ups in charge, after a few years of setting record straight, sanity will hopefully return.

It's good to see swift justice meted out for those deserving of it's receipt.

I'm looking forward to the same swift justice being handed out to the machete carrying gangs, such as the one which attacked numerous people who were minding their own business in a pub and lacerated the liver of someone who dared to remonstrate.

I'd like to see swift justice meted out to the caring charity workers who viciously attacked the police at Manchester airport. I'd like to see swift justice dished out to those who wish death to the Jews and who support the proscribed terrorist organisation that is Hamas.

I'd like to see swift justice handed out to those who attacked the police in Leeds, forcing them to run away.

Or is swift justice only handed out depending upon the nature of the protest, especially when that protest could be considered to be an attack on the government itself?

Is the labour councillor mentioned in the article attached going to receive swift justice for inciting violence?

He didn't plead guilty. His fall will be higher. In other news, Ex RAF Aircraft Electician is exposed.

Tightening of responsibility in media conversation. In all forms.

That’s point, the situation may make it a crime, but it’s not a crime in and of itself.

Lying under oath - Crime (a surprising number of wives have been caught out taking speeding points for their other halves)
Inciting Violence - Subjective, could be a crime
Politician (especially a minister) Telling a Lie (in the commons) - Breach of standards, like eating cake, not a crime
Slander - Subjective - a Civil Matter, so not really a crime.

Random speculation about an event, unknowingly untrue - apparently now a crime.

Minor levels of stupidity or irresponsibility should not mean jail, ruining the life chances of individuals and creating a life long burden on society.

While I applaud the Police for their swift actions and the courts for finding time in their very busy, overcrowded schedules to put these people in the dock I am also very wary about how the PM has shouted and they jumped.

The police and courts answer to the crown, not the politicos. Are we on the way to a police state?
An antiquated notion, let’s face it, no one answers to the crown in the present day..or the future.
As for ‘the PM has shouted and they jumped’, I think it’s more a case of the Police getting the backing of the Govt and courts for a change.

Grown ups in charge now, rather than squabbling kids or a bunch of bald men scrapping over a broken comb.

“Grown ups in charge”

A lot of people keep saying this, so you’re in good company.

But what does it mean, and why can it be said?

It means the immature, lying, selfish, petulant, back-stabbing psycho-drama tories aren't in charge anymore, and in their place are a bunch of adults who are actually taking their jobs seriously.
It also means the ones who propped up the immature, lying, selfish, petulant, back-stabbing psycho-drama tories resort to thinking up "funny" names for said Grown-ups.

I'm more than happy to jail all those proven guilty of wrongdoing. Kiddie fiddlers, drug dealers, facists, rapists, far right bigots, far left bigots, racists, anti semites and any other group or "ist" that disrupts society and breaks the law. The current swift action of plod and the courts is good news. I just hope the speed of arrest, charge, court appearances and sentencing can be maintained for an extended period and not just a few days to quieten one particular group of nut jobs as other nutjob groups are available. However the folks in charge might have to either let those already held at his majesties pleasure out early or build more prisons to accomodate the extra influx of "guests".

Interesting, not seen that myself yet, perhaps if you don’t look you don’t see.

Clive Lewis would be easily characterised by quite a few of those words, or perhaps that female Labour MP who’s had to apologise for her previous tweets, or Wes Streeting’s earlier posts about pushing people under a train or that Labour councillor who wanted to kill a few people and encouraged others to do so. Grown Ups?

And let’s not forget that Ed Balls was chosen to interview his wife on national TV, about rioting and disorder, and nobody thought that might be peculiar.

Absolutely. Adopt the the three monkeys approach and you'll miss all the wrong-doings of the previous era. Did you not know that Tory MPs had their own dedicated TV Channel where they could spout their shite without fear, and even the former PM appeared on a live Q&A show, where the Q's were so rigged it was laughable. Perhaps you missed the former Home Secretary's (the one that resigned, then reappeared a few weeks later) almost weekly rants against foreigners, British citizens, the police and her own staff? There were parties in Downing St and Tory HQ during lockdown. They were widely covered, but perhaps you were looking away, or rooting around for some dirt on a then opposition politician. There was a mini-budget that wiped billions off the country's wealth, but hey, never mind cos there was some minor labour supporter that said something nasty in a pub and you were busy being outraged. More than a handful of Tory MPs were subject to recall petitions for groping up staff, taking bungs, and watching porn in the Chamber - the latter pops up on GB News as a commentator these days.

Seek and you shall find but it will take a lot of time.
Open your eyes all the time and its much easier to see stuff.
