Times Report - Cut to the Bone?

Anyone notice this evening how our glorious leader (Pffft!) described how he sees sandiparts going in the next few years? Region by region towards a properly united Afghan state.

And that's why the UK will no longer need an RAF as now seen. Oh the sneaky little jockstrap; He's a tw@t.

It's just another step towards the wind down of the RAF which will be complete by the 1st of April 2018.

I just feel let down to be honest. We seem to be constantly taking a kicking from the Government and it seems none of our airships can do bugger all to stop it.

I do hope they offer redundancies as I will willingly jump ship as I can't be arsed with change after change after change. This alone wastes millions of taxpayers money and over my 24 years in the service I have seen officers and their hair brained ideas re-invent the wheel over and over again with massive expenditure. We need to set the RAF on a course with minimal change which will reduce costs. We also need to bring the manpower situation back to something that looks like a triangle rather than a top heavy 'jobs for the boys' ice cream cone which it currently looks like. Sort out the fat from the top end and I'm sure the wage and expenses budget would drop through the floor.

I beleive it now stands IRO 3 months pay...

Is that all? Surely everbody who is on to do 22 years is guaranteed a job for 22 years, and they have the cheek to compensate that with 3 months pay. As a lower payband Cpl (yes there are still some trades on lower payband) thats less than 5k after tax for a job they promised me for for the another 15 years! Doesnt quite seem fair.

Although I'd probably take it. Its shallow I know, but do I really want to be part of an air force where im OOA every year, only have a handful of postings and when I am back in the UK I have to work with civvies who will down tools as soon as it hits 1700, leaving muggins to finish off.

Anybody know what was offered a few years ago for voluntary redundancies?

How certain are you of this?

Wobbly is referring to the notion of the 100 year experiment, which is often quoted on ARRSE by those who wear the green baggy skin and by those don't really know what the RAF does.

How can it just be an experiment when they provide all the transport and air defense/attack, refueling and much more?

Plus how many countries operate an air force in much the same way as we do?

Hardly an experiment, its probably the most important necessity isn't it?

If you ever make it through training, you may discover something called banter. It goes on between different trades/sqns/services.

Indeed, I know of it very much so, much of my family have been involved in the other 2 services, but I thought why join them, when the RAF is there :)

I think you forgot to add "and manage to get away with it" to the end of this sentence.:PDT_Xtremez_42:

Certain bases are covered and paid for by Nato and the UK has a commintment to keep them open as its still part of NATO , I know Kinloss is one of them bases.

.

So was St Mawgan, NATO funded it a fair bit for use of the airfield and HAS site. Didn't stop that from being binned did it?

I would seriously reconsider! ICT Specialist does make me chuckle every time. TG4 is a mahoosive cock up imho.

Ah well, I'm willing to find out the hard way!

As for the fly em or fix em comment. I'd like to see how well you coped with flying them or fixing them with out any ICT support, which in the case of TG4 covers a very wide range of support due to the amalgamation of two previous TGs.

Like it or not, everything requires ICT support these days.
