I especially liked the bit where she said she liked her rifle when it was unloaded. But when it was loaded it scared her! FFS! :S
Last nights was a bit better with the Rocks in it but I think the damage has been done with the series unfortunately.
Its a PR nightmare, the army get Ross Kemp in Afghanistan and what do we get, "My loaded rifle scares me" .. Jesus Wept.
This series has been done back to front, it should have concentrated on the aircraft, the roles and the support they provide, then a look at the Engineering and Support side. And then finally the conditions they live in, but its all been done the wrong way round and I think has set the RAF back to the PR stone age and just compunded the assumptions that the Pongo's have about us.
The Ross Kemp programme generated a lot of understanding of the Army's job in Afghanistan by showing what happened at the sharp end, this seems to be glaringly obvious to everyone except the RAF PR people apparently.
I agree last nights wasn't as bad as the first one but none the less the damage has been done. This could have been a brilliant oppertunity for the RAF to show what we do in theatre and maybe gain some respect from our Army/Naval friends as well as Joe Public however we have blown it thanks to our stupid PR team ...... nice one fellas!!!!
This Is a good for me as im starting my training at Honington on the 25th and I have'nt really seen anything about the RAF reg in Afghanistan so it's a good insight. DT_Xtremez_19:
I was just wondering which squadron is due out to Afghanistan next? and when?
It showed where the RAF's priorities lie though. When the dizzy clerk went to get her bed for the night, the sign on the door read "Flt Lt ****** ******* plus 2". Still the officer class rule eh?
I’ll bite the bullet and say that my opinion of Kate has certainly changed. She is a young girl, on Ops, doing what she has to do. Her only crime, naive! Perhaps a bit more supervision is required. Apart from that, is she doing anything different than we have all done? Remember, we may not have had camera’s filming us, just imagine what they could have captured 20 years ago!
Obviously you will need to register and download their player but.............
raf firemen must have calmed down a bit now they are "firefighters",years ago, they would have knocked a table up out of anything wood going or just walked off with someone elses.
I'd have thought they'd have trouble; with damn all, in the middle of a desert, there being no-one else to pinch from. As it is "the lads at the Harrier Squadron" made it. I thought that was very British.
Incidentally which twerp told that young Gunner that the 'slot' in the bayonet was a Blood Channel ? It ain't. It's a device for saving weight and getting the 'balance' right.
