out the loop

out the loop

Chances are you will get moved though, unless your on the mighty 90. I can imagine that 2 of the Jobs filled are the new ones in warwickshire.

Not sure which jobs you speak of, but surely they want a bit of experience?
I hate it when they post a newly promoted bod into a new role, not sure of the right procedures etc otherwise it goes to rat droppings.
Don't get me wrong I am all for a move on promotion, have seen a few stay in location and they carry on as is and then get picked up again without really having any new challenges or different experiences. Difficult one.

The Jobs where on the manning voulnteers list until very recently, no-one voulnteered so the promotion board folk got lucky!!!. They are brand new jobs with no real equivilent in the rest of the trade so no matter if new SGT or Old.For what my tupence is worth i would say move job on promotion. Even if its not a location move but i would hope most people would enjoy the challenge.

I did the same 3 years ago, brand new job on promotion, to a location away from home. Big steep learning curve all round. Me learning what I should be doing and how I should be doing it ' AP600 didn't help in my situation'. The unit on how to best utilise the highly trained, mildly stroppy, fairly old compared to the rest of the unit, RAF Sgt they had just recieved with a vast library of knowledge on stuff that they cannot even hope to understand. To quote one of the guys here, usually after giving him a reason on why he can't use his mobile phone somewhere 'how the f*ck do you know this stuff'.

All I can say is, if you have opportunity to do something brand new on promotion, do it.

From personal experience it is fecking hard, with a near vertical learning curve. I am quite happy with the decision, not everything that was promised when I got here has happened, but hopefully my replacement will get to do that stuff.

While I have been in this post have been on some awesome non-trade courses, that other people in our trade will be extremely lucky to get on.

It has given me the opportunity to learn about what other people are doing and gives a different perspective, and also your out there face to face with people that do not normally have close interaction with us blue jobs, which can help our cause as a force as we can help them understand what we do as a force in a non confrontational manner. Remember joint is the way forward now.

This is somethong those 2 new posts in warwickshire will also give.

As above it will be something completely different, and you will be learning things that very few people in our trade will have anything to do with.

Does anybody know what number they have got to so far?

A good friend of mine is in the 20s and I'm waiting for him to finally get the beers in!

Whatever the numbers are I don't really care now, I have finally given up hoping/wanting/waiting.
From now on, it's all about me and not what they want.

90SU grading board

90SU grading board

Does anyone else know of the seperate grading board that is held at 90SU? If not this is how it works; Flts rank their Cpl's 1 to whatever then the Sqns rank the 2 flts they have then the Wg ranks the whole lot 1 to whatever. I had an interview with a careers advisor who told me 90SU should not be doing this as it put the individuals at a dissadvantage as they were being graded twice. I mentioned this to my WO who more or less confirmed what I had been told. When I said I was thinking about submitting a service complaint he told me it would end my career there and then. I'm a bit confused, I didnt think I still had a career.

Exactly what has been happening in Cyprus for years and does not bend any rules, apparently!! I agree that it could sound wrong but at least the people grading these individuals are doing so with actual first hand knowledge of them.

Isn't that essentially what any RO does anyway? I "grade" all my subjects, they all get placed in a pecking order then the SJARs get written.....

Could be worse you could be graded against the Army and Navy like JSSU Cyprus.

I reckon a fair few people (around 20 at a guess) hope so but this has already been bandied about (and refuted) earlier in the thread.

We'll keep our fingers crossed though!!

Apparently this has stopped happening now
No, this is definately still happening! Not just that though, but you are graded alongside coppers, adminers, suppliers, MT guys, PTi's...basically, the whole unit ranks the Cpl's on the unit from 1 to whatever and THEN issue a grade based on the that ranking. The 1st RO must do a write up to that grade.Wrong in my opinion

"Just been told this morning by a WO that they are now after 60! "
------------------------------------------------------------------

Thats funny.... I heard a rumour last week it was reduced to 20! We're bound to find out within the next 10 months either way i suppose.

More likely and indication that out of all the corporals in the trade very few are actually on e-goat, and the ones so far have are either not on e-goat, or deciding not to shout it from the roof tops to all and sundry.

A lad in our office who's number 29 on the board has been told he's off to 90su 1st week December, sounds promising for others around the mid 25-30 range
