Pay Rise 2009

MP...sorry to pi$$ on your bonfire but I was in that situation....the only extra quals I had after leaving were the BTEC/ONC that I gained by doing my FT course (only had CSE's when I joined in the first place), oh and the freebie NVQ3.

I won't bang on as most know what I do now and you would not believe my pay for last month.

Crack on......................:PDT_Xtremez_09:

TM,

Perhaps your good self and I should compare monthly earnings, If you prefer, I can break it down to weekly:PDT_Xtremez_30:

Seriously, Its not good form to bang on how great life is in the commercial world, especially when you have only recently put your foot in the water (no pun intended)

The recession has had, or will have a negative impact on the majority of industries, this encompasses the Engineering Industry. Only a fool would believe differently.

But I suppose you had to ignore the sarcasm so you had the opportunity to look down your nose at us again.

I would never and will never do that ! I am hurt that you feel thats what I'm doing !

Some people will feel that 2.5% is huge in todays climate but you and I know you are all worth so much more but you will not get it while still serving.

T93 I'm not going to compare wages all I said previously is that they would not believe my pay statement for last month....I cannot believe it either ! One of the goat regulars asked and I did PM him and his reply to the figures was, are you working offshore or playing for Celtic !!

Last I'm gonna say on the subject..........

Crack on..................:PDT_Xtremez_09:

Sorry i got it wrong. Its 2.6% + 1% on the X factor.
That extra 0.1% will make all the difference. It's come from a management brief and is what will be announced by our masters.

Well, if you are correct which I do not believe, the AFPRB have made a unprecedented move by adjusting X factor outside of the review year, although they have always reserved the right to do this (this might be a government cover up to show us not getting a pay rise above the rest of the public sector). FOI 1 % increase in X factor will not directly reflect in a 1 % increase in pay.

TM,

I was not aware that you were specifically asked to provide figures, thats fair enough then.

Onto the next topic--->>>Celtic, that well known Irish football team (can of worms, opened) There is only One team, and thats Hearts.
Apologies, I digressed off topic.

I know, i was only passing the information i was given from above. Thats the way it's been put in the management brief the WO has, it actually more like 2.7-2.8% if you looked at the numbers. Then again i wouldn't expect us to be given the truth it has to be spun to look better than it really is.

Its actually 3.5%, but I still think somebody has their wires crossed, the figures you are quoting including the X factor are the exact figures we were awarded last year!

Somebody has miss read something somewhere I think!!

X Factor

X Factor

Ex factor is normally expressed as a percentage of pay, currently 13%, therefore it is safe to assume that a 1% increase in X-Factor could be a move to 14%, the other type of rise would be non-sensical and not worthy of having. I kinda remember that the x-factor rise was deffered but I cannot remember if that was paid last year, deffered from the year before, or deffered last year for this year.

A 2.5% pay rise is a pay cut year on year as our, public sector, rises are based on September's inflation rate, my wife's pension will go up by this 5% rate. Last year we had a lower rise because of this so it would be wrong to do otherwise this year, but I doubt GB cares much for this. I'm guessing that because the announcement is late it's not going to be good news.

Last year it was excepted that X factor rose from 13% to 14% WEF 01 Apr 08.

So where is the massive rise ? You just said 2.5% (+1% x-factor).....not massive by any stretch ! And as you said food and accom/MQ's will go up by more anyways so you have a DECREASE in pay......glad you are so happy about it.....congratulations !

Crack on..................:PDT_Xtremez_09:

well thats a load of rubbish, as its 2.5% of your wage i.e. 2.5% of £26,000!!!!! And if food goes up by 2% then its 2% of £2000 thats a guess on how much food is) so i don't think your right there at all.

Anyways lets be grateful for what we get as
1. there is a massive ression on (not our fault) but a least we have a secure job to go to in them morning and have a garunteed pay packet at the end of the month.
2. For the 90% of the air force, we are not actually front line and probally never will be, and i think you should watch mr Kemp on a sunday night and be thankful that your not there. (i apologise if you are raf reg, certain aircrew or been sent out as part of a force protection i am not meaning yourselves) I've been to Basrah twice and still think my money that i earn is fine.
3. Its easy to want more, and easy to moan about pay, we are fortunate, and you are spoilt!!!!!!!

I look forward to my pay rise so I can an extra pint every week, if thats all is!!!!!!!!!!

Solves that one then, and also suggests that the email may be a year old.
Nah the e-mail isn't even 12 hours old.
There was loads of other stuff in there about the welfare package for the injured and all the other stuff they're trying to convince us make it worth staying in for. New hospital wards, etc.
Personally till i'm shown something else i'll believe what i was told this morning.

:PDT_Xtremez_27:

on closer reading of the link, I reckon there is a current holder of the position for another year...

"High-calibre candidates are sought for the position of Chair of The Armed Forces Pay Review Body (AFPRB) from 1 March 2010."
I am seriously thinking of applying and if I get it I can promise my Techie colleagues that I will do my level best to re-instate the Techie - Pond-life pay differentials :PDT_Xtremez_42::PDT_Xtremez_30:

the chances of that ever happening are closer to zero than is possible to show in decimal places.

the job that is, not the pay differential :PDT_Xtremez_28:

You are CAS and I claim my £5

The pay rise this year is late because they are waiting for the bank of England’s next review where it is fully expected to go to 0%, thus the RAF/MoD can then give us 0.50 to 0.75% pay rise and claim its inflation busting….mark my words!

Anyway, just a thought…

Yes, strange isn't it that the government prefer tp use the CPI as a basis for pay rises rather than the RPI? Undoubtedly because the CPI is generally lower and false in my opinion. Now the CPI is higher than the RPI it seems to have caught the government out. Perhaps they need the extra time to manipulate the figures to their own benefit? Maybe, after all these years, they have decided to base pay increase on the RPI now it is to their advantage?
